Was it hard to saw/cut in aluminum? and what thickness did you use?

These dolls just do modeling for me so I'm not worried about ever bumping into the plate. If you hop in bed with a doll with these plates installed you need to be wary. The aluminum isn't that sharp once filed, but if you're not expecting a hard object down there you could be in for a surprise.

With Abby I was initially concerned about how much to bend the plate. Since Abby wears almost exclusively very high heels (in the 12cm+ heel range) the bend in her foot plates was a much higher angle that Fanyael's. The white heels shown are really the only style of high heels Fanyael (and Pepper) have so I matched the bend to fit the shoe.

Materials used:
Aluminum sheet, 6061, T6, 8” x 8”, 0.063 thick- $5.15 from Grainger.
Round spacers, nylon, for use with M6 bolt, 5mm tall, PK10 $2.11 from Zoro.com
M6-1.00 socket head cap screw, plain stainless steel, 10 mm L, 50 PK $7.68 from Zoro.com
There was more money spent in shipping than on the materials themselves.

The 8"x8" plate is big enough to get two pair of plates for full sized dolls. I needed to get a second plate for Pepper and Marty, my other dolls. The 0.063 plate is currently back ordered 30 days and I didn't want to wait, so I just bought a slightly thicker 0.08 plate instead.

You will need to check the size of the bolts used on you doll's standing feet. The 102cm used the M6 size but I don't know if that's a industry standard for doll feet.

I have access to a shop with a pretty extensive array of tools. I was able to use a metal band saw and a drill press on the aluminum plate. With a metal blade the aluminum cuts pretty easily. You can probably use a hand jig saw and a hand drill easily enough. File/buff the edges of the cut plate to avoid any burrs that might cut stockings, sheets, your shin, etc.

As I mentioned, the most difficult part of the operation was locating the bolt holes in the plate. Abby's plates look a little like swiss cheese. I was better prepared on Fanyael's plates. I only had to hog out one of the six holes. And don't count on the standing bolts being in the exact same position on both feet. You can probably do a reverse and repeat for the over all shape of the foot but the location of the holes relative to the foot can vary on each foot. Indexing the doll's metal skeleton in their mold is not an exacting science so you'll need to template both feet separately.

These are Sorbern's metallic slingback sandals with the narrow back wedge heel. In the size 5, the smallest size they make in this style, they have a 3cm platform and a 17cm heel. These are probably Abby's most extreme heels. You can just catch the edge of the plate on the outer side of her left foot (arrow). Yes, her legs are crossed. These plates have inspired some more daring standing poses. The similar line seen on her other foot is actually the edge of the sole liner of the shoe, not the plate. The plates are practically invisible, even in sandals.

If it appears her toes are sinking into the front of the shoe it's only because these shoes are a size 5 and she could really use a size 4.

That looks really good. I didn't even know EB girl's feet could bend . Or is that just a 102cm feature? I made plates like yours but never made the holes to screw them to the feet. I'm not great at that sort of thing lol.

The 102cms have bendable ankles like most dolls. The bent in the foot for most high heels is at or just beyond (towards the toes) the balls of the feet. This is in front of the internal skeleton foot plate so all that is bending is the soft part of the foot.

Just wanted to say I love all your ladies and don't want to go off topic but your foot plate idea is inspired. I've recently acquired a few ladies myself (yet to show as a new member). But have a similar problem with heels and standing in general. I figured on designing a plate for the bolts to protect the TPE and silicone feet just like you, but seeing your angled plate for heels is brilliant! I have got to try it, Thanks!
