Newbie here saying hello!

Post by rob00000 »

I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Rob & I live in Connecticut.

I've been checking out dolls lately & I'm thinking of getting one. I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing because honestly I don't really have problems dating attractive women but they are such a hassle & these dolls are so realistic. I think it would be neat to get one. I'm not going to stop seeing girls but I still would like to get a doll. I really like the Ruby13 & I may purchase one.

I was at the website for RD recently & it listed only 2 locations in the U.S. where you can go & see an RD in person. I couldn't believe it when Connecticut was listed as one of those places. Not only that it was just a few miles away from the V.A. in West Haven & I had an appointment coming up there. I was really surprised at my good fortune so I decided to go check it out yesterday after my visit to the V.A.

They have the doll behind the counter sitting in a chair. The chair is mounted up near the ceiling with a sign on it, "ABSOLUTELY NO TOUCHING." Now, I know the doll is expensive & I understand the need to protect it but you can't really get a very good look at it. It's so darned protected & far away what good is it? Why bother even having it in your store? It should be mounted in a glass case right on the main floor area so everyone can see it up close & yet still not be able to touch it.

The girl working there told me some guy called from Canada & planned on making a trip out there just to see the doll. Now, I don't know where in Canada he lived but the Canadian border is real far from Connecticut. I told the girl. "Did you tell the guy it may not be worth the trip? The doll is not very close & can't be seen very well." If that guy happens to be a member here I suggest you stay home & don't bother making the long trip!

Then, I told the girl the RD website says your store has a piece of silicone that the doll is made of so customers can see it & feel the material without having to touch the doll. She had no silicone piece for me to examine & had no clue the website said she is supposed to have a piece on hand. I'm just glad I didn't travel a long way. I took a few pictures of the doll in the chair but I guess I'm not allowed to post pictures yet so scratch that idea.

You guys are probably going to laugh when I tell you this. I tried joining this forum previously & you know how it asks a question when you're done filling out the registration form? I guess it's to prevent spam. Now remember, I'm BRAND NEW here, ok? The question was. "What does the D in the acronym TDF stand for?" I'm thinking. "What? How the hell am I supposed to know what TDF stands for?" So, I googled it. It brought up stock tickers, etc. I searched and searched, finally, I gave up. I tried it another time after that & was asked the same question. I kept thinking, most websites ask a very simple question that anyone knows the answer to, like what day comes after Sunday? You know, something like that. I was stumped. After several attempts it asked me another question & I was able to join. Then I logged in and started reading the Newbie rules for TDF!!! The Doll Forum!!! That's what it means!! Maybe, you guys think I should've known but a brand new guy isn't thinking like that.

Anyway, here I am & I now know what TDF means!!

Hi Rob, welcome to TDF :D

And we thought newbies would know that TDF stands for The Doll Forum

Well, I'm glad you have been able to register - so here's a sincere welcome :D

When I bought my first silicone doll, I never had touched one.
I guess if you call Abyss, the RD manufacturer, they probably send you a silicone sample.
All I can say is they are beautiful and the feel of their skin is quite realistic! I had visitors that were really surprised (even shocked) by how real the touch is; only colder than a real person (depending on the room temperature), especially if the doll has the latest soft silicone.

Bro, that's what you call a "brain-fart". I get 'em all the time.

Just this morning I woke up thinking it was Monday. At 8 I dragged my trash bin 80 feet (25 degrees in the snow) to the road. Then I realized "why the hell did I do that since trash day is Friday?!" So I dragged the bin 80 feet (25 degrees in the snow) back to the house. Went inside and 10 minutes later realized it IS Friday and had to go back outside and drag the bin 80 feet (25 degrees in the snow) back to the road. When I got there I thought to myself, "why the hell did you just do that since Friday is trash day?" I'm like, "shut the frak up and mind your own damn business!"

Rob - Welcome! I have some really good news for you. We have an annual meet-up in Hershey PA the first weekend of May. Lots of folks attend and bring their beautiful ladies. You would have an opportunity to meet and touch several different kinds of dolls. Just remember to stay classy and always ask first. Absolutely worth your time and travel expense. I know, because I did this last year and it was an amazing experience!

Hello Rob! You'll be glad to know that I think my Grace looks better than 99% of RG's! I've now owned Grace (PIB) oops. i better spell that out. Private Island Beauty. Teehe! for a little over 2 months. Before that, I did not even know this world existed! Now, I'll be out and about and most girls my age 52 are really showing major signs of age! So actually, I can say that 100% of girls my age don't look as good as Grace! I wasn't sure how the whole doll thing would work with me. Now I can say, it is beyond my expectations! Taking her head off and adjusting her eyes, or moving her bod is becoming part of the ritual! I thought it was gonna be weird but I was wrong! Grace has rocked my world! So welcome to the forum! Good luck with your selection! Also. PIB is in MD. I'm in NJ. I went to pick her up and was amazed when I touched her for the first time!

Hey Rob. Good to meet you, man. Nothin wrong with wantin to have a doll around for your own private thrill. Nothin to be ashamed of at all. I mean, you know...its 2014, right..why settle for your hand like a caveman? Rubys are real nice. Chicks can be a hassle. But hey, so can we dudes. Most of us are regular folks around here. Welcome to the forum, guy.

As LaDolly mentions, we do have a meet in Hershey. You can see a variety of dolls up close and in person, meet some cool folks, hang out and chill, and have a drink or umpteen.
I went indie once, I got a cool hat and a whip..I kinda liked it...but I had these giant boulders chasing me everywhere a lot, and so I had to give that shit up.

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome. Also, I appreciate the Hershey info. I may just make it up there. Maybe, I'll make a friend or two here in my area & we can drive up together. I'm retired young so I have nothing but free time on my hands.

So, how do you guys get to the Hershey meet? I mean what route do you take? I would assume you take the "Hershey Highway?"

Great story, I hope you don´t mind. It happens to all of us some day now and then.
Hi Rob, welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy it here and will be able to drive to Hershey to get a close look and a feel of what is waiting for you in the Doll Universe.

If you are interested to join the US Doll Meet in Hershey, send a PM to Bianca (but first you should have 5 posts approved, to be able to use the PM system, just two more  ).
