And that brings me to today, our Anniversary. Of course, I am a man so my memory of important dates needs more than a slight touch with a cattle prod from time to time.
So we would be doing things around the house and she’d ask me “What month is this”? I’d answer “July” and continue on oblivious to its significance while she stomped away. Yesterday I’m paying bills and I look at the calendar and realize that I had only one day until our Anniversary. That’s when I knew that I was in trouble!
I woke up early this morning, got cleaned up and dressed and let Phoebe know that I’d be late getting back as I had some shopping to do. She smiled, said “OK” and rolled over to go back to sleep. When I got home she was there to greet me. Her smile changed to an expression that caused my life to flash before my eyes when she saw the bag from Bass Pro Shops in my hand.
“Now Honey, your Anniversary stuff is in a bag inside this”!
She grabbed the bag from my hand and tore into it in such a way as to be a chilling reminder never to swim in the Amazon River.
I would have liked to have gotten pics of her opening the stuff, but as I said, things are much more relaxed now. But she was good enough to try some of her things on, and I must say, at five years old she’s as beautiful as ever, and perhaps a touch more elegant. She was most pleased that I finally put a ring on her finger. I quipped that I had “made an honest woman out of her now”, to which she replied in her most romantic voice “Fuck you, Mahtek”.
Good Lord I love this doll.
