Mandy - clothing?

Post by kligore »

New member here.

I'm thinking that I will be making a purchase of a Mandy doll from Pipedream. I do have a question, though. While they have a lot of helpful measurements on their description, I'm curious if people have recommendations about specific clothing sizes: S vs XS and, in particular, bra sizes. Mandy is listed as having a 23" underbust and 30" bust, as well as being a "C" cup. I'm trying to square all of that to get what actual size bras may fit the best. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to TDF, Kilgore

Definitely XS, youth 14-16 with some stretch is even better for the form fitting look. As for bras, can't help.

Here is a XS top and skirt.

Most dolls don't fit bra very well because the breasts are not soft enough to mold to the inside of the cups. bralettes work a lot better for them.
Not like they need the extra support anyway :)

Hey Kilgore, welcome to the forum. Mandy's an amazing doll and I'm certain you'll be very happy with your purchase!

I'm a photographer who's been working with Pipedream in their ambassador program. I generally work with live subjects so working with Mandy has been a very informative and enjoyable experience. My main focus is with lifestyle/fashion with a dose of cosplay https://www.instagram.com/kirino_photo/ so costume is something that I know a bit about and have investigated extensively working with Mandy.

My first question would be if you are asking about clothing sizes for "display" or "use." As photographer I'm comfortable with making small adjustments to the clothing which don't show (safety pin, needle and thread or my favorite... binder clips!) which works out just fine for the purpose of shooting since I can control the angles. But if you are looking for actual use / aren't up for tailoring here's what I've found are best fits:

Adult sizes... basically extra small for anything/everything. For example I've bought a bunch of cotton panties in extra small and they were a good fit. However, I've also noticed that TPE is an oddly oily substance and the oil will soak into the clothes just like on a real person. So when you put those panties on at first they fit great but after a week or so they will stretch out and may be in need of a wash/dry to get them back to original size.

Bra sizes: Mandy is ostensibly a 32C (though in reality, she's a 30D but that's a size you'll never find). Because of the ways bra sizing works a 34B will work great as well and depending on the style may even fit a bit better in the front, but in the back you will have to use some sort of alternate fastening (such as the aforementioned binder clips/safety pins). At 32C underwire seems to work great (as it also does with 34B) but as mentioned by some of the previous posters bralettes/sports bras (bras that are just cloth / no extra support) tend to work better as they are more stretchable. Also, some bras/bathing suits have small, triangular "modesty pads" installed which make the cloth thicker to hide perky nipples. Depending on what look you want you may want to remove the pads. They are easy to remove/reinsert: generally there is a small opening on the side of each cup and you can just pinch the pad between your thumb and index finger and pull it right out.

Shoe size is a US Adult 5/6 (though it seems 6 is the smallest that many stores carry)

I've also recently discovered that children's sizes work great as well:

For a tank-top Child's Small is awesome though Medium is fine as well for a more modest look.
Jacket / top Child's Medium works best for me, though large can be an option as well
Similarly for shorts Medium works great though may feel a tad skimpy, large is great as well and a bit more conservative
Sports bra/Bralette: Child's Medium is a perfect fit (perhaps even better than Adult XS)
