Corn starch:
I'm not suggesting anyone do this, simply because of Kimber's advice to use baby powder. I'm just passing on my experience.
The cons of baby powder, as I see them: 1) I can't kiss or lick Aubrey with it on. 2) I had to wash her before & after using edible massage oils. 3) It took a lot of the thrill out of spontaneity. Who wants to think about 'I can't do this or that, or I have to...' when you're in the moment?!
Corn starch experiment:
I started on a small test area on the bottom of 1 foot to see how it spread & felt compared to powder, then washed it off after a few minutes to see what effect it might have. Over the next week I tried larger areas longer. The 2nd week I used it all over her after her bath, leaving it on til her next scheduled bath. Week 3 I did the bath & powder routine, then skipped week 4's routine. After 14 days of moving around, cuddling, changing clothes, changing positions, etc... she felt like she could use a bath, so I've gone back to my normal weekly maintenance schedule (which I planned on anyways).
Verdict:
It's been 2 weeks since the last test ended & I most definitely won't go back to using baby powder. I see no ill effects from the corn starch & no longer have to deal with the cons of powder. I apply & spread it the same way, she smells better, she looks the same after "powdering", & her skin feels silky smooth.
