What's in a name? How did you pick a name for your doll?

For those who have purchased a doll...why did you pick the name that you did for your doll? Did you just go with the name that the vendor had on their site, or did you use a totally different name?

It seems like the vendors stay away from some of the more common names, but some names used I can think of someone with that name. I don't really want to be thinking of them in a doll!

You're supposed to name the doll?

Why? Because entering the photo contests requires a name with a caption. My neighbor's sister gave her a diffrent name, but uses it with either head.

I could write a novel about how I chose my girl's names. I actually did, somewhere. My opinion, not that you asked for it, is to choose something that makes sense to you. Something meaningful. One of my girls even has more of a title than a name, but it makes sense in the larger context. And be creative, do you have a favorite language, color, place, idea? Associate the name with that if you want. The possibilities are endless.

Good luck.

I just like the name Indigo. When I found out about dolls it was the first name that popped into my head for my own doll.

I'm not always the most creative with names so I tend to use the name that the vendor had on their site. But that was only with my NEW dolls.
It was a different story with the ones that I got from the sales section. In that case I used the name given to them by their previous partners.
Less confusing to the doll that way. :)

For my first mannequin I made up a list of names (just regular names in my native language) that I liked and let my wife choose one. My second one is from Hindsgaul Angie collection and she is so recognizible I just couldn't name her anything else.

I believe I am going to name my male doll "ART", for he is a piece of art.
I do feel naming the doll, helps "humanize" it. This is probably better for our mental/emotional health.
Maybe look in a book of Mythology for Goddess names?

I made three list.
The first was common names, Names you might hear at work or on the street. The second Evil names, Names you might find a witch or evil character using. The third Stripper names, Need I say any more about that list?
For middle and last names I tend to go with part of their back story. This is where my doll got her name. Chastity Ode Knite
Her first name is from the Stripper list. Her middle name is a nod to her having an Asian ancestry. Then her last name comes from her family having been around since the colonization of the Americas back in the 17th century.

I named my Tiffany after 1990's big boob model Tiffany Towers (spent a lot of time drooling over her). :D

I did a comparison photoset of them both, half way down this page:

This was also posted to the "Model Shots" thread.

I have some kind of Tron Style furnishings.
So I picked the name Quorra.
Somehow she got access to my computer and invited Gema. :D
