10,000% tax on sex dolls?! This is scary.

I think all the doll manufacturers and vendors need a heads-up on what these folks are up to. If anything like this passes, I hope there's a loophole to get around it. 10,000 percent tax?! That's patently absurd! If the proposed tax rate is that high, something's very fishy about that. A tax like this is effectively a ban, and it could potentially kill the entire doll industry.

Gas, tobacco, and liquor taxes are about that where we live! Add dolls, and all the fun stuff would go away! :D

Immediately thought "bullshit", then noticed it is the Daily Star... 'nuff said!

Why do they interview someone from an American think tank (easy to spot as it uses the US spelled "Center" in the title - could they not find/make up some interview with anyone in the UK?

Considering the way that the tabloids such as The Star, Sun, Sport and The Mail objectify women with either "Page 3" shoots or The Mail's infamous "sidebar of shame" on their website, they're incredibly out of order to suggest that dolls are demeaning to women and that they'll be the losers.

Tabloid or not, this is a good harbinger of times to come. There are people out there who think like this (<removed, Rule 3b>), and crazy tax hikes have been done before. In the States, RYO tobacco was taxed over 400% of its actual value. Bags that were originally $8 jumped up to over $30, which drove many of those suppliers out of business. Their main customer base were poorer folks and heavy smokers who didn't have the money for regular packs.

If dolls keep getting more realistic, there will be an influx of new customers buying them (and joining this forum). I believe this industry will keep growing, and there's a lot of women out there who will feel very threatened by it. If they don't outright ban them, even a "mere" 400% tax would put dolls out of reach for a lot of men who already can only afford the cheaper options.

Make an electric bike using solar charge batteries
Make your own doll.

Beat your plow into a sword and your pruning hook into a spear and storm the castle!
