In Canada, this has already been seen as an issue.
Here some articles:

Basically, in Canada, if you buy a Love Doll, you got to be able to prove that it's not a replication of a child or teenager's body.
In that trial, many points were explained as being the cause as to why the man was charged four charges: one count each of possessing child pornography and mailing obscene matter, and charges under the federal customs act of smuggling and possessing prohibited goods. One of those point is the height of the doll which has be changed over the course of the case. Initially, it was written as 5' tall, then the officer spoke of 4'. In the end, it was 4'7" when they finally decided to open the box again behind closed doors. The look of the doll isn't described, but it comes from Japan so we can guess that it's relatively "young looking" by nature of the Japanese standards.
There's also the issue that the crown is using only 1 expertise as a source to determine if the doll is too "young looking".
It's still going on today as I write this... after over 2 years of issues with the case. (In this case, you could think that the crown doesn't let go because, 1, it's creates an antecedent and, 2, because they have already invested quite a lot of money in the case and doesn't want to be laughed at.)
This bring the potential issue where the aesthetics side of the doll heavily influence if it's accepted or not.
This is one of the biggest fear I had when I was shopping for my first (upcoming) doll. I had to make a choice based on way too many parts and it's quite disturbing and scary. Is the face to "young looking"? Is the body alike to a teenager or a young adult? Is the height too small? Etc.
In my case, this is the Doll I have chosen:

The age is set to 20 which is legal in Canada. In fact, you could say that the age is 20-30 easily, meaning fully developed, but without any birth such as the larger hips you find in the MILF kind of doll. I requested a change for B-Cup instead of D-Cup (which was accepted) and, in Canada, the average is set estimated at C-Cup. Note that we're talking about doll Cup, meaning you could say that it's not a "real" B-Cup, but more like a semi firm B-Cup, almost C-Cup. My ex was a B-Cup for the sake of it so, to me, I got plenty of examples and proof that I see B-Cup as something on an Adult.
The head is Japanese, meaning there's a deviation from the North American standards. Still, if I had to proof that this is not a child face, I can simply bring picture such as these ones:
Toda Erika which is 28 years old. Her height is 1.63m.
Horikita Maki which is also also also 28 years old. Her height is 1.6m.
The average woman height in Japan is 158.8 cm. This means the doll I have chosen is 10cm below the average. This is the main issue I can see with her, in a legal sens, if we check the average height by age in Japan. 148 cm is a bit short for today's standards. 148cm is the average height of a 12 years old Japanese girls. With that said, if we look back, 148cm was the actual average of Japanese women about an hundred years ago (in the early 1910's). In fact, 149cm is the average height of Japanese women over 75 years old. That gives an idea that 148cm is short without any question, but it's not that rare in the Japanese people around 30 and 40. It's mostly the part of the Japanese people that allows the new generation (which is taller in nature) to drop the average.
This is a visual representation of the difference in height:

Left is obviously me at 5'10"(176cm), middle is the doll at 4'10"(148cm) and right is an average Japanese woman at 5'2" (158cm).
If you look around on the web, you can easily find picture of adult couple where the head of the woman barely exceed the man's shoulder. (Just google
Couple height difference) In fact, we, men, can be genetically inclined toward shorter women because of our genetically nature as "family protectors". Smaller women are easier to transport in case of crisis. They are easier to protect in case of danger. In my case, I also bought a doll because of my need to coddle on top of the additional benefits that comes with it so the smaller height is actually a benefit in my case. As I'm living alone, it's also a form of a present that will help me structure my life in a more structured way. (It's similar to having a pet or having a hobby which takes a small bit of your time every or most days. It helps us to disconnect from the stuff that overly fill our every day's life.)
