Mr Franz used Elmer's Glue on his "merkin" to hold it in place. Comes right off with water, IIRC.

Hi everybody,

if you want to make sure you don't mess anything up then definitely don't use nail glue or glue on tpe material. Both glues are solvent based and would damage the material. I recommend using an eyelash glue, which is used to glue false eyelashes. It is not as durable and it is possible that the hairs will come off after a while, but it is not a problem to re-glue and there will be no damage to the material.

Jyoti's homemade mohair merk, attached with Elmer's, has been on for over 3 years now. Flattened a bit since first installed, but still holding strong without the slightest hint of damage.
