Look into a Pimax 4k, Gearbest and Amazon has them for $300.

You get a pair of 4k screens that are upscaled from 2k @ 60hz. Much better resolution than an oculus or rift. The 5k Pro is the same deal, however you push 4K@90hz but with a wider viewing angle which decreases the resolution. The 8k and 8k Pro are additional improvements over the 5k, but do not hit the same pixel density as the 4k does.

The 4k has better resolution than everything on the market, the only thing near it is the Samsung Oddysey.

The bottleneck they are running into is that the cable isn't pushing enough pixels. Newer Displayport and HDMI Standards will push more pixels. Everyone has stopped focusing on making higher density displays and are focusing on varifocal lenses (lenses that move with the eyes and refocus as you look around the environment) and iris tracking. With the right lenses they can focus the pixel density dead center and get much more out of the solution.

Biggest issue I've found on the 4k is there's slight ghosting and H.265 decompression doesn't work unless you have a GPU or CPU that can do it and even then. Geforce 800 series cards and up support it, plenty of coin miners dropping their cards on e-bay for cheap. You want windows 8.1 on up for proper support and a beefy CPU.

Simple VR Player I've found is the best player up and above the player that comes from Pimax (which has anti-ghosting and a bunch of neat features). You want to configure the IPD in PiPlay to center the IPD Settings (note IPD has a short and long distance adjustment) then in Simple VR Player, turn the 3d stereo seperation to your liking (+ or -) for the video. After doing that adjust the Z-Distortion to half that and multiply by -1. E.G. if you adjust the 3D Stereo Seperation to -30, then adjust the Z-Distortion to +15. If you adjust the 3D Stereo Seperation to +20, adjust the Z-Distortion to -10. That will give proper viewing distance to the scenes.

I got mine in july, and I'm really loving it. Finally the screendoor effect is gone, and the knuckle controllers really are on a completely different level compared to any alternatives out there. Just hoping for more games to fully support the finger sensors soon.

I have a Playstation VR and it's nice but damn was it expensive when I bought at launch. I think I paid close to $600 + games. But it's funny, I have a $99 VR Sky standalone wireless headset that I use and I've never noticed screendoor effect on it. The picture quality is stunning. I don't know if they make them anymore, but they did a great job building them. I'm thinking of building an app that lets me manipulate video per stroke with a hand control. This is a sort of solution since most bluetooth connected toys seem to have compatibility issues with older headsets.

Using the Rift S here. Can't see any screendoor at all. Using Deo VR, Skybox, even the older Virtual Real Player, everything is really proportioned well, so you get a feeling of immersion. Stick with major studio content, and you will get high production quality.

Screendoor effect is mainly a problem for headsets with OLED displays, even the really high resolution one like Pimax. Most popular models this year went LCD instead which almost entirely gets rid of the screendoor effect but instead sacrifice colors and black levels, which is very noticeable if upgrading from HTC Vive. There's also tricks with subpixels in the center of your view going on, which sacrifice detail and sharpness in the outer areas of your view. LCD actually just blurs pixels together, which is easier on the eye but not a very fancy solution really.

So everything is really about trade-offs, and which headset you choose should be based on what you want to play with it. LCD is for example not good for dark games like horror and space, but great for simulators where you need to see far and read small text and instruments (tough choice for Elite Dangerous fans).

The cool thing with LCD displays on Valve Index though is the high refreshrate, which is 120Hz by default and can even go up to 144, if your computer can handle it. Super smooth experience compared to the old 90Hz standard.

Unfortunately no. I've seen some experiments but nothing shared. Not in the communities I'm lurking at least. Bodies are Genesis 2 right now, and I know there are anime variants for this, but I have no idea how well they would import into the game. They will go for Genesis 3/8 soon though, so maybe that will open up more possibilities with non-realistic head morphs and attract more artists.

There are plenty of game characters though, like Nier Automata's 2b and various Overwatch icons. The problems I experience with their heads though are that the collision mesh don't match up well, and animations can look weird. So their usability depends on what you want to do with them.

We'll see how things progress in upcoming updates. It's still pretty early in development.

I have the Oculus Go and it works great, but the storage capacity at 64gb is a real problem if you want to build a library of 5k downloads on your device.

Its Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 on ps4

I had to pay for some playasia HK sony cards to be able to download it from the hong kong store in english on my usa playstation, then, i had to download and buy a ps4 save editor to unlock 99% of the content, someone from gamefaqs was awesome enough to send me their hacked save file.
