R/doll know what they will do to the doll, but its free press. H/S made R/D IMO alot people heard about r/d from H/stern
Here is a quot of some of the things they have done to the doll.
"They were all freaked out by it. Will fingered it, but that was really it. Sal offered to piss on it. They did shove a broom stick up her ass."
no matter what they do people will talk about it and it will get around.

Any publicity is good publicity for some, I suppose. I am just the type that would not want my product treated in such a way, but this is of course inevitable given the nature of the product here.itsme wrote:blindwebster wrote:Far too beautiful of a doll to be manhandled like that. At any rate, it would still be nice to see them being presented as finely detailed works of art... in addition to being high priced sex dolls/artificial companions. You know, just a little more respectful of a presentation. The again, this is Howard Stern we are talking about, lol.

I'm pretty sure, if Abyss wouldn't have marketed the dolls as love dolls, but as pieces of art, they wouldn't have sold as many dolls as they did...
But that's what Stacy is trying to achieve by showing her work in galleries, to show the world, that Realdolls aren't just sex dolls... but they can be art as well.

It's just a shame because there are so many guys that would love to have that doll and would take really good care of it, but simply can't afford one.
To see it used like this by a near billionaire who could care less if it winds-up in the greenroom with heaven knows what kind of degenerates, is unfortunate.
I love Howard by the way, it's just a shame to see that doll basically go to waste. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it just rubs me the wrong way.

This is pretty much all I was trying to convey as well. I know that they are marketed as "The Word's Finest Love Doll" and will be viewed as such by and large. Still, they are full scale replicas of the beauty of the female form down to the finest of details and the individuals who create these dolls consider themselves to be artists. Surely they do not view their creations as something to be thrown around, abused and laughed at like some inflatable gag doll. Not to mention how this makes doll owners look or how it even may scare away some who may be considering one out of fear of ridicule or being embarrassed.B-Zilla Lives wrote:No such thing as bad publicity, I guess.

Granted, most do buy these dolls for sex and this is indeed the main reason I want one, but not the sole reason. That being said, they are still intricately detailed works of art that I feel should be treated as such. I know once I have mine, I certainly will not be shoving baseballs bats inside of it, throwing it around and pissing on it. It will obviously mean quite a bit more to me than that and I would wager that most who own them feel much the same way about their dolls. They are just multi-thousand dollar investments.

That is so true, but if the Realdolls were not capable of sex Abyss would be bankrupt by now. Matt picked up on that early on and as well as an excellent craftsman he is a smart businessman. Of course the same concept can apply to many products. For example vacuum cleaners sales would mushroom if they sold them with a free blow job attachment...yeah I know that sucksAlexKnight wrote:Thing is, Abyss sells Realdolls as the "World's Finest Love Doll", not as finely detailed works of art, so, that's the title the dolls get when they get publicity...

The point is that as soon as you label a product it is pretty hard to then market it as something else. Also anything that is associated in the sex trade also seems to be viewed differently by society.
A silicone doll created with laser scan technology is not the same as a hand crafted conceptual art form created in the artist's mind and laid to 3D. Mind you, art, you don't generally interact with or dress it. It often is simply placed in a place where one can admire it.
The Wicked Realdoll is an excellent piece of craftsmanship designed for what ever the buyer wishes to use it for.
So in in essence, I see the dolls representing great craftsmanship and use of technology whereas the photography itself makes the art and to that extent Stacy's stuff SHOULD be in a gallery.
Speaking of Stacy, does anyone know if she's still alive? People have been asking about her and she has not answered any of my PM's
Oh,and I hold the same sympathy as itsme where Howard Stern is concerned. I never watch his show. BUT believe it or not, Stern put RealDolls on the map way back when, and got them so many web hits it crashed their website ( I seem to recall) So perhaps Matt is a little smarter than us and knows that when people see what Stern does to the dolls on his show, that customers will be lined up at Abyss's doors to the RealDolls from Stern's clutches

Of course, maybe it's because I'm an ex-Stern fan who realized what I tool I was for having once been so into his show...
Note to current Stern fans: I am joking...sort of.

I felt the same way when I saw the pictures. Something that beautiful,... it just doesn't seem right to treat that way. Howard Stern and crew just dropped permanently into the "never to watch again" catagory. Matt M I know it is for publicity but how could you let them degrade your work, your art so much?!
