My vote for the most beautiful woman that ever lived.
Moderator: Swan
Here's my vote. . .
Some very gorgeous nominees, but the most beautiful woman who ever lived was Silvana Mangano. I'll try to find a good pic somewhere on line. She was of the same era as Lolobridgida and Loren - a dancer and actress. Married Dino De Laurentis, and would be Giada D's grandmother. . .
Thanks for posting that!Poet wrote:I dare ya to click in it.....OK for some reason U will have to cut n paste beats me....

I've been listening to this retro/pop band from the UK lately - The Pipettes. They copied that scene for the video of their song "Pull Shapes". I knew it must have come from somewhere.

Unable to see video, but thanks anyway, Poet
No one has mentioned my reference to the lovely Diana Hyland, and it may be that she wasn't in that many movies or shows. In addition to her unforgettable role in the Twilight Zone " Spur of the Moment", she was also in a Star Trek episode as a beautiful blind woman accompanied in her travels by a hideous creature in a box.
Her real life story had a sad ending, from what little I know about it. She and John Travolta fell in love while making a television movie but she died unexpectedly, still pretty young I think.
Last night, I recalled another classic Hollywood beauty, the truly exquisite Jean Peters, who was a dark haired actress in Fifties movies. I think her best role is the beautiful and intelligent newlywed in the 1952 film Niagara, where she and her husband get involved with a truly strange couple played by Marilyn Monroe and Joseph Cotten.
She also played a prostitute in Sam Fuller's Pickup on South Street, Zapata's wife in Huston's Viva Zapata, and and Tyrone Power's love interest in Captain from Castile, a late Forties film that was probably her first movie role.
Here's the original scene:

ps- to go to the "One million BC" link you have to manually copy and paste the entire address into your browser. Hotlinking doesn't work for it.
Meyer's intent was to NOT inform the cast that this film was a parody...he instructed everyone with the utmost seriousness about their motivations etc....he wanted them to play it as straight as possible....the comedy was in Meyer's handling of the material to make it the classic it is today....

Whoops! Made a mistake, got the wrong actress
I remember her as being dark haired and gorgeous, but it's been years since I saw that episode.
There were also two very moving episodes, both of which had Spock falling in love. One was a time travel story where he and McCoy were sheltered in an icy wilderness in a cave occupied by a lovely woman who had been exiled there. Mariette Hartley played the woman and she was simply heartbreaking.
The other episode featured the stunning Jill Ireland as a sort of hippie woman living on a peaceful commune. The scene where the all business Spock embraces her and says wonderingly " I can love you" brings tears to my eyes just writing about it.
Sorry, but I'm a hopeless romantic and a sucker for emotional stories.

I needed that...
Thank you for that Star Trek bit. That was one of the cleverest things I've ever seen. Especially because Spock's expressions and dialogue seemed so natural.
You really contribute a lot to this forum with your surprise videos and interesting bits of information. I'm still curious about that reference to being a huge Barbara Steele fan and being able to tell stories... that's what made me wonder if you might have actually met her.
Here's an image of Victoria Beckham for you complete with erect nipples! Enjoy!
