Implanted hair - DIY

Post by ArcanePath »

As some of you know, I had a bad experience with the implanted hair that came with my Maria doll.
I'm looking into pulling it all out (it pretty much falls out anyway every time I touch it) and implanting a real human hair wig from Amazon. I've looked at videos on how baby doll collectors do it, with a special needle tool such as this:

Just wondered if anyone has any experience doing this? If they have any warnings / recommendations? I'm reading that human hair takes a little more maintenance than synthetic, but lasts a lot longer so I really need advice. Reading reviews on good quality synthetic hair says that they tangle easily and look too shiny. Personally I just want it to behave like human hair, so when you run your fingers through it, it goes get frizzy bits sticking up like nylon thread.

I might buy a capless 360 wig and see how I get on with that first (as they look implanted with a transparent cap) before attempting to spend a week implanting one hair at a time.
I'm looking at something like this:

Any advice welcome, thanks!
