Day 15
I received an unexpected delivery today: Ruby's ace and aro rings, much smaller twins of my own. Even in the smallest size available they're a little large for her tiny fingers, so she'll likely only be wearing them for some photoshoots until/unless I find a good method to put a tightening layer under them. It makes me happy to think of her as a fellow aroace. And, as she's a doll with technically no attractions
at all of her own, I can't even say it's incorrect.
(Apologies for my dirty fingernails -- was doing some room cleaning beforehand.)

Next task was getting Ruby up, into her chair, and over into the living room. This was my first time bridal carrying her since my core went on strike. She's still a big girl, but I managed it much easier than last time. I did wear the brace -- might as way play it safer. Time will tell as to whether I did myself any additional damage. I took a few pics, then arranged her for general hanging out on the couch. Pics are linked below, with some commentary.
This was the first pic of Ruby for which I didn't end up using the Pixel phone's portrait mode. The automatic jpeg compression was turning the black of her bodysuit into a sea of compression artifacts, so I had to take a regular photo as a RAW and compress it from GIMP. I also experimented with using the Focus Blur feature (in GIMP) to get some of the same depth of field/bokeh effect.
This one took a lot of finagling before I was happy with hand and head positions, plus a lot of eye adjustment. I also ended up having to do a little bit of color leveling in GIMP to prevent the blacks of the bodysuit being crushed into compression noise during export again.
This was actually the first pic I took, and I tried to take it quickly to limit the duration of putting pressure on Ruby's arms. Turns out that when the camera isn't facing a drawn shade backlit by sunlight, the light in the living room is very, very yellow. Nice ambiance, but leaves something to be desired for photos. I nudged the color balance slightly in this, but you can still see the stark difference from the other two despite her position only being about a foot or two to the side and 90 degrees of camera facing different.
A while later I settled down next to Ruby on the couch and we cuddled while watching videos. I started out leaning my head on her shoulder with my arm around the small of her back, then eventually moved on to lying in her lap with her arm wrapped across my neck and our fingers interlaced. I even turned onto my back for a while and enjoyed looking up at her beautiful... face. Yup, definitely just her face right above me.
When standing back up from this lovely interlude, I was able to answer a question: yes, I probably did myself a little more damage, most likely during the manuevering for the couch bend shot rather than the initial bridal carry. Or the vaccinations are causing increased soreness. In either case it doesn't feel catastrophic -- my core has been more sore at night than during the day the whole time -- but I seem to have turned the volume back up a little. I put the brace back on to relieve some biped stress and see how things settle out.
I was concerned that tonight might be the first night since Ruby arrived that we wouldn't share a bed. Fortunately, letting myself take it slow and in stages, I got her back into her chair from the couch, then back into bed from her chair. For the latter part I discovered that I didn't have another bridal carry left in me tonight, so I had to get clever. I got her to her feet and upright-carried her around the bed, then laid her down and short-lifted her to get her oriented. Upright carries seem to cause a lot less direct stress for me, now that I've gotten the hang of them. I'm definitely getting stronger, and the brace is a notable help, but it's still very much a work in progress.
I'm curious to see how it'll go once I've been away from lifting her for a week and a day on my Xmas trip.
