While the sound effect certainly can be stimulating, the speakers that I've seen being used in such systems make it sound like a toy.
I downloaded from the Internet sound clips that sound real to my phone, and I use wireless headphones. Sound so much better!
I was thinking that it's not too hard to integrate Bluetooth into those devices (which are actually responsive to touch), and instead of using the small toy-like speaker, use high-quality Bluetooth headphones...
