Hi everyone! Just wanted to drop by and give an update for my Kanu!

Work’s been crazy so I haven’t been able to take pictures of him to post on his Instagram but I hope to do some soon.

I have a renewed love for Kanu as I finally jumped and decided to take a risk and use Smooth On Psycho Paint to tan him up. I learned it from watching Reborn Doll tutorial videos. Psycho Paint is Platinum Silicone and is currently binding and cured well with the actual doll. I guess we will see about longevity but now that I’ve done it once, I’m sure I can do it again in the future.

I did try this method before with his penis attachment in which I reported it wasn’t binding. The main difference of why it worked this time is because the penis I tested on is a softer silicone. I guess they’re chemically different. This is the same case for the fingers and palm as the Psycho Paint also didn’t fully bind there but that’s ok as our hands seem to be lighter anyway. It’s also not very noticeable.

Many of you who have followed this thread knows I’ve been on the hunt for ways to give his skin more realism and his skin color more of a glow.

Below is the aftermath of about 3-4 days worth of work (mainly waiting for it dry, actual painting was 1 hour each side x2).

This is a sexier skin glow for me. He’s still shiny because I’m waiting for a silicone matting powder I ordered. This would give the skin permanent matting and a skin velvety-like feeling.

The paint job result isn’t a smooth, airbrushed-like finish. He’s got some unevenness like lines, product build up although very small and unnoticeable when you first look at him, but I actually don’t mind them as the lines, etc look like healed scratches from living (ie. being a footballer or from military deployment or as a street fighter). I kinda like that as it makes him seem more real and a little tougher haha.

I also haven’t done his face for a few reasons:
1) Unlike his body, I do prefer his face to be more smooth and blemish-free.
2) I feel it’ll be hard to paint over the eyebrows.
3) I think the matting powder will lighten the body slightly.

I would probably just keep powdering his face with tan makeup to match with his body. I don’t mind doing that every now and then since it’s a smaller area.

I will give another update after I complete the job with matting!

I will leave you with my most recent favorite pic of Kanu. He was freshly (temporarily) tanned here, so I’m very excited to have his permanent skin color closer to this

Received the silicone powder today but still waiting for a new shipment of the Smooth-On Psycho Paint since I ran out so I can proceed with the matting. Should arrive this week. But thought to take an “oiled up” look photo of Kanu before the shine disappears

unfortunately the matting kinda ruined the process. a lot of areas started drying up in flakes- i’m guessing from the mixture of the thin psycho paint and mattifying powder. i’m currently trying to scrape off the paint from his whole body. i found a way to do it but it’s gonna take weeks as i do have to work.

i feel like i should’ve stopped at the shiny part, just washed him and then matted with cornstarch or baby powder even if it’s temporary matting.

the doll itself is not ruined. i’m actually quite impressed because i’ve used several harsh products and in some areas, the original painting are still visible although faded a little.

sigh.. it was going so well.

there’s still hope though.

soooo i gave up on taking the paint off and decided to just get a new doll with a deeper skintone.

it was my fault in the first place to have not double check the skintone before making the purchase (ie. asking for samples etc). i did try to really like what i have though. it’s been 5 months.

so yea, i ordered the same specs just with dark tan instead of light tan. the great thing about this is that they have the new weight reduction. i don’t think i would’ve ordered again if it wasn’t for that. vlad did send me a pic of the doll on a scale. i’m hoping he’ll be light enough to take outside so i can take pictures. i’ve been going to the gym too so by the time he’s home, i should be even stronger to be able to lift him up easier. he’s been quite manageable at the old weight but posing him outside would not be as smooth hence might attract too much attention i’m not scared to be looked at with a doll (i could just say it’s for a photography project if anyone asks), but i just don’t want to look like i’m struggling

i’ve also learned SO MUCH just by owning the first one and i’m much more confident now about making sure he’s better treated (had a lot of rookie mistakes the first go).

the old one will kind of just sit in storage until i’m fully ready to part ways with him. i will keep the head as more of a souvenir of the old times.

i don’t think i’m as regretful about how i went about all this (the painting process etc). in the end, the whole point of having a doll is having a companion that is our most ideal type- physically.

I just got the first factory pic of Kanu 2.0 and the skintone is much closer to my desired shade. I’m so excited!
