Spinner hip joint issue

My Spinner took a hard fall recently. Now one of her hip joints will not allow the leg to move forward. the leg swings backwards OK, when I move it forwards from the backward movement, the leg stops at the standing upright position and will not move past that point. I've cut into her hip exposing the joint, it appears to be just fine.

Suggestions would be appreciated!

Do you have a photo of the skeleton? It may help you to understand the movement. Maybe ask Patrick from PIB if he has one.
The only thing I can guess is that the connection is bent at that joint.
But you said it looked ok, so not sure at this point.

Patrick sent us a photo of a spinner hip joint, hasn't done us any good. Not that I've done anything about it, I'm still passed off about it so she's just standing in the corner until I can address the issue dispassionately.

We finally addressed the hip joint, tried to move it forward today, it just snapped.

was able to get the bolt out, but the one holding the base of the joint to the skeleton will not as yet move.

Patrick said he see if he could find a hip joint.

Texting with Patrick he indicated that he can send me the part needed. I said that would be so cool! :multi:

Patrick sent a prototype partial skeleton from which I cannbalized a hip joint, heavier duty than the original.

The new one installed with nylock nuts not as highly torqued. She probably won't stand anymore and I'm OK with that.

I learned that when closing a long deep incision in silicone (using Silpoxy), to begin with the middle of the incision and work outwards to the either end. This way rather than beginning at one end and working to the other, it is easier to close the edges flush with one another.

A little IPhoto retouch and you'll never see the ugly scar on her thigh.

Best of all she can still stand!
