Bargain Mini Finds On eBay!

Hey, look what I found on eBay! First up is this great BJD doll from Mego. It's Count Dracula himself, beautifully presented in a tween scale 14 inch action figure. Rather well made for a low-end doll with surprisingly good articulation.

Next is this stunning 1:6 scale Billie Eilish doll. Not a Billie Eilish fan, didn't even know who she was before getting this doll. I just love the face sculpt and detailed body. She's a tad shorter than a Barbie with a much more realistic figure. She has good articulation as is, but I plan to enhance that a little.

Got two more mini dollies coming, a Mego General Zod, a new body for Lil' El and a surprise for Jhipri and Ji Woo.... stay tuned!

Mego makes a nice product. Unfortunately the 14 inch figures are meant more for display, than playing with. The clothes are rather delicate and I've noticed the joints are already starting to loosen. There is a fix for the joint problem, but the clothes will no doubt need to be replaced at some point. Of course the problem there is, these Megos are in between 1:6 and 1:4 scale. Not too much available ready made.

The other doll though, is made by Playmate toys. Barbie clothes will fit and it appears to be made just as sturdy. Really loving that doll. The green hair... not so much.

Ok, so Superman's nemesis General Zod from Krypton arrived yesterday. Like The Count, he's also a Mego 14 inch action figure. Unlike The Count, his range of motion is not quite as good and his leg and pelvic joints are far looser. A common problem with earlier releases of this body I understand. For the price I paid though, not a bad figure at all and well detailed.

To give you an idea of the size difference between 1:6 scale figures and this one, here's General Zod with Erich, sporting his new body. I fear an unholy alliance may be forming between those two...

BTW, Erich's new body was supposed to be an upgrade for Lil' El, but since it matched Erich's head sculpt better and his old body had some issues, I gave it to him. Erich's old body is fixable though, so I ordered a new head sculpt for it.

Bargain dolls are the rowdiest!

I have bought my share of eBay “bargain” dolls too… tho my tastes run more to the fantasy style than yours do. I am often stunned at how cheaply people will sell them. Having sold on eBay myself, I always wonder how it can be worth someone’s time for less than $5?

Especially after giving eBay their cut!

Low ball bidding on eBay is a pastime of mine. Amazing how many times such offers are accepted! I've actually bought things that ended up costing the seller more to ship than I paid for the items! This time though, the "Buy it Now" price for these dolls was much less than I would have bid. All "New in Box" too!

I like the head and body sculpt a lot, just not the green hair. One of these days I plan to either dye it or re-root it.
