Wow! Almost a year has gone by on this project. Lost interest, then got into other things, but had kept this project in the back of my mind. Then it occurred to me, I had been overthinking all along. I finally just started again a week ago.

Quick recap.
I'm trying to make a full size figure similar to the first picture on the first page of this thread.
A robotic aesthetic, fully articulated full size female action figure. Gaps and seams are part of the aesthetic.
No A.I. or electronics, just a piece of art.
3D printing is too expensive and the learning curve is too much for me.
2nd idea, use a tpe doll (that I already had, that was an abomination) for the skeleton and rebuild the body from scratch.
The tpe has been stripped off, except for the hands and feet (for now).
Using Minimal expansion spray foam on the appendages, leaving space at the joints for movement.
Applied directly to the metal frame, it sticks quite well.
Free form shaping of the foam with rubber gloves.
Cutting and sanding then adding more foam if needed.
If I can find a shapely female plastic (not fiberglass) mannequin for under 200,
I can cut it in sections, sand edges and adhere to present form.
I wanted to document this in case anyone is curious.
I love the idea of a ball jointed doll, but cost is too much for me.
Same with an articulated mannequin, too expensive.

As always, If I can't find it, or can't afford it, I will try to build it.

The first pictures. I know there's a lot of work ahead and she's not all that,
But, this has been so fun for me to sculpt a doll.

She stands on her own and currently only weighs 20 lbs. or 9 kg. and 5 ft. tall

3 cans of spray foam trimmed. Regular sized tpe head (a knockoff WM 273, ugly as hell so I painted it, not permanent paint)

I will continue to add and subtract to shape the body. If I can't find the right mannequin to cut up, I will find another plastic like substrate to finish the outside.
Yes she is hard foam. No intent for now to make any holes in the body,
it's important for me to continue to work on the wonderful contours of the female body.
The soft tpe head is intended for ...well, uhm, ...head.
I love the smell of TPE in the morning...

Thank you RK. Although for now she looks like Ms. Ricecake Popcorn Ball, I'm happy to continue.

Quite a ways to go, but...
Progress.
Form Foam, Bondo and blood and sweat (no tears).
She balances and can be lifted easily with one hand.
Aside from the head, hands and shoes, she is hand sculpted.

Tried some wigs, but she looks better bald.
I did make a head piece. Kind of like it.

Lots more to add and lots to refine and sand.
I might remove the Robocop-like jaw cowl.
Yes I know that it looks familiar to some of you...
And yes I've started on Rick and Morty's sex doll Gwendolyn.
First, I have to finish this.

With the headpiece, kinda makes me think of a "romulan robot" if there were any such thing. (I guess they don't much like them for some reason.)

Yes, I see that Kaori,
I think it was ...ehhh, ok.

Once she's finished, I'll post pictures on a new thread in Inventions.

So, I tried something different.
I figured a Cyborg/Robot Elf would be unique.

Still a ways to go, but I'm closer to what I want.

Thats really cool! If manufacturers used a variant of this idea around the pelvis especially it would fix a lot of the lhp issues you see where that area travels with the butt and legs

Thank you so much guys.

The skeleton was designed for low waisted, shorter leg dolls. I went with what I had and for me, I love the look of the hip joints. I tried some different ideas and even made some upper thigh panels. But they didn't look right.
She's got a way to go, but getting closer...

That was the inspiration for the neck cowl. It made sense to make this for the transition from head to the body.
I'm working on an alternate headpiece that is very Robocop/Gwendolyn sex doll.

The Robocop/Cyberpunk style rocks and it looks like you're well on the way to nailing it! I'm imagining the final form to involve lights... Do you have plans to add LEDs or anything?

Something along these lines maybe:

She now has a new thread, Cyborg Robot Alien Pixie, but I wanted to finish out this thread.
I've seen a lot of unfinished projects and wonder what happened.
I always want to see the outcome. Even if it takes a couple of years.
So...this is it. She's done.
