concept and reality are 2 different things and the only way to get a true answer is build one to find out if it will work or won't work.

The skeletons inside a doll are small compared to a humans skeleton. The dolls have more inches of Tpe compared to human skin that's why they weigh so much. If the joints were beefed up to match a human skeleton thickness the dolls would weigh less. Yes the Tpe would be thinner and more chances of damage, but if your joints go down/ break/ or loosen. You would have to cut them open any way to fix it.

Again its just a concept nothing more nothing less

Maybe instead of a button moving a pin, a design using a neodymium magnet on the outside would work. Apply to one side to engage and the other to disengage a steel pin.
