IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Problem is if he does that He'll have to put a big orange sticker on the doll telling the user "do not use while operating vehicle or craft". Product liability ya know!

Kinda reminds me of the 70's, all power tools came with a 6" cord so when you sawed into the extention cord you had to sue the extention cord mfg.

Ever wonder why there is a sticker telling you not to put your hands under the deck of a lawn mower? Two idiots decided to trim the hedges with a lawn mower, cut thier fingers off and sued. They won thier court case.

Hi samot,

Go to the Health & Safety forum and you will have a very good idea of what the new forum will work and look like.

That should answer most of your questions.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi Ish,

Voted right now.
My concern is that the forum will remain
user friendly, also for folks who are new to the whole subject and who don't have much experience with computers.
When I joined short time ago (and this is still the only forum I've ever been to),JR had to deal with some stupid questions of mine because I didn't even know how to post.
Therefor I'd like to submit a suggestion :
How about creating a user manual,a kind of vademecum dealing with all dos and donts and technical stuff and explanations for newcomers, easily accessible via link and not to be overlooked ,right at the opening site ?
Also a glossary would be welcomed by those who are uneducated computer wise and by a great number of members/visitors whose mother tongue is not English.
To make myself better understood :
For one who posted a couple dozen times ,it's no
big deal to put a "quote" in his text.
A firsttimer doesn't even know what that is.
It would help a lot to know what all those buttons in our forum-cockpit are for and what can be done by pushing them.
Just wanted to contribute to a better new forum.
Bye,

Hi Davecat,

Right; thanx for explaining & clarifying. I kinda figured that you could tweak various things for the new forum, but I wasn't quite sure. I'd say my biggest selling point would be being able to turn the leftmost menus on or off, as they tend to be, in my opinion, redundant - I'm one ov those members that checks pretty much every section in the Forum for the latest posts, so the 'New Topics' would be moot to me. Also, the leftmost menus require me to have to slide the browser slider at the bottom to the left & right so I can read an entire article or whatever. Most annoying.

I dig the layout for the Health & Safety Forum; it's not altogether too different from what we're using now, it just looks 'higher-tech'..

Now that I'm duly informed, I'm looking forward to the new Forum. And an actual FAQ with sub-categories?? w00t! I already know what skin I'll be using!
I was just over at the NukeMods site and they've go the theme running that you mentioned you liked. (See: NukeMods.com. I'm not sure how long they will have it up (usually only a week or so), as they tend to do this while they are working on it. (So you might wanna run over there now and take a look.)

After seeing it actually up, I don't like it. It's too hard to read for me. Anyway, thought you'd like to have a heads up on that. They should be releasing it within a two weeks.

it's like some sort ov stealth theme

Post by Davecat »

Hi Tina -

Thanx for aforementioned heads-up!

I dunno, I rather like the VereorLCARS theme, as it's nice & dark, and thereby kinda matches my computer's overall theme (green text on a black background - just like computers from the Eighties! :) ) Plus, it doesn't have all ov those sidebar menus, which I personally find to be troublesome. It's kinda like the Traditional theme that Bill & I like, only darker. Neo, fellow lover ov All Things Dark & Beautiful, will probably dig it as well..

If you could add this one to the list ov available themes, I'd be grateful - rest assured it'll be used by at least one person..

Hi Davecat,

I'd be happy to install it once they've released it. :)
