As I mentioned before, black mannequins have been relatively hard to find over the last century. The male one's even more so.

But they are coming through now and they are shockingly realistic.

Hi Joe

Thank you for these. Do you know by any chance of any mannequins located in Berlin?

Greetings!

Sadly no, I worked in Berlin in the 80's. In fact I also worked all over the East of Germany for the reisebüro. But I haven't been there recently.

Some of our younger visitors are surprised at how life-like some of the older mannequins are in comparison to the newer faceless ones.

There are realistic mannequins still around. They are normally seen in the window and floor displays of the bigger more famous stores worldwide And yes they are quite life - like and beautiful.

A very young looking Dennis Waterman. He looks very smart and sounds very posh here.

One of those wonderful mannequin come to life tales.

A beautiful classically styled vintage mannequin by D. G Williams reminiscent of the Roman and Greek statues.

This is a pretty good example of the change in realism of
the store mannequin. Here we have a male posing next to a nice 60s mannequin. No modern mannequin would have realistic breasts like these.

Kandicaine wrote: Sat Oct 15, 2022 9:21 pm This is so weird to see for something from a time period we usually think of as less advanced. I’ve only ever seen featureless mannequins in places like big box stores years ago. Never seen anything so detailed or animated as these.
That's what kinda shocked me too when I clicked this outta curiosity! Love dolls obviously have made massive strides since their first beginnings, but on the flip side, compare the mannequins from waaaay back in the 60's, with now, and the difference is night and day but in the opposite direction!

Is the death of big shopping malls to blame?
