Well one would deflate back to it's original size when standing while the other would deflate laying down. I don't know why.

How big of a needle did you use and where did you insert it?

Too big of a needle will put too much of a hole even though TPE is mostly self healing, and usually it's best to go straight through the center of the nipple because there is more TPE there, and all the way through to get into the wall.
