wig maintenance tips?

wig maintenance tips?
why they get tangled up so easily?
I tried brushing and spend almost an hour but didn't really help.
then I read up that I should use conditioner. improved a bit but still tangled.
I figure it's low cost item and just buy new one, but
new one is also tangled up. now what?
do you guys have tips? or just throw away and buy new one?

There's a lot of threads on synthetic wig care. Basically, you need a good wig brush to start with and brush the wig gently starting from the bottom and working you way up. It helps to give the wig a little spritz with water and fabric softener. I use about 5 parts water, 1 part softener to do mine. I've never had good luck using products designed for human hair on synthetics.

Hope this isn't too late.

I think wigs always have a chance to get tangled based on your activity. So unless you buy a small wig, it'll always have some tangle risk. That said, you can untangle by hand (undoing knots).

Also, you ever think to switch to combs? My experience is brushes are really good for destroying the wig but that's it. I switched to a detangle tooth comb and all my wigs have been in better shape.

A doll with a synthetic wig is like a woman wearing a synthetic hair wig. Who would want that during lovemaking?

All of the advice above on caring for synthetic wigs is very good. But, my advice is to invest in a good human hair wig. You won't regret it.

Human hair wigs are silky soft and feel good on your skin. Human hair wigs do not knot up like synthetic hair wigs do. They still tangle a little but they de-tangle much easier. Human hair wigs can also be styled and volumized.

I have 4 dolls. All have human hair. Three with implanted human hair. One with a wig. I have a few synthetic wigs for her but only use them for photo shoots (where they don't get knotted) and after, store them away. So don't throw away your synthetic hair wigs. Just use them only for photos.

My Isa's hair care tool-kit (and believe me, the gal has a LOT of hair). The conditioner/detangler also makes her synthetic hair smell wonderful.
NOTE: The last tool (far right, bottom row) is the amazing Tangle Teezer brush - it's a must-have. The awesome Flight of Fancy recommended it to us, it's what he uses for his Sandy. It goes through stubborn tangles like the proverbial "hot knife through butter."

Laura: #1: remove the wig when posing or moving until ready for it, just like the head. Helps not getting tangled in the first place.
Yes start at the bottom working up slowly as if you are, no wait never mind.
I also do the inside out first sometimes.
Also I have synthetic shampoo that smells yummy but not too much.
