DIY Simple Doll Hanging Stand

Post by Photo_guy »

Despite Jolene thinking Stacy getting flat spots on her butt from laying on the hard floor under the bed is slightly hilarious, I was feeling guilty about it and knew something different had to be done. I wanted a system to hang the doll but hanging racks usually have a large footprint/base so they don’t fall over. And Jo’s box and all their dam clothes already take up much space in my closet.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that works the best.

Using 2x4’s and hardware (hook & wood screws) I already had it didn’t really cost me anything but time to throw it together. Nicer wood would be better, but honestly I was short on time. Maybe it will get a coat of paint at a later date.

Stacy is actually pretty small but I see no reason the same method couldn’t be used for a larger doll as well.
I measured the doll including hanging eye and added a couple inches to clear the floor. To that I added the length of the hook to get the overall length of the uprights. The width of the dolls shoulders plus three inches on each side gave me the length of the top board. The struts to the wall I cut at- I believe ten inches, enough so the doll would be a few inches from the wall when hanging. The wall end of the struts are cut a 5 degree angle so they rest flush to the wall when the unit is leaning against it. The weight of the doll actually holds the whole thing to the wall and from falling over. For now I used a pair of cotton sox on the struts so as not to mark up the paint.

Pretty simple. And can be used anywhere. I guess you could put some kind of rubber on the bottoms of the uprights so it could be used on a tile floor without slipping.

Yea, I should probably add some paint and make it at least look a bit nicer. In time-😎
