Nails Sizes

Post by TannerB1313 »

I have a 157b WM and would like to replace the stock nails with a different color (solid red). I was looking in a local CVS store and the available nails look too big for this doll. Do fake nails come in different sizes? What do you guys use or recommend for a 157b WM doll? Thanks

Hi there, yes indeed, false nails come in a variety of sizes and shapes but practically all dolls hands and certainly the WM157b take a size XS. There are a few exceptions where a doll has bigger hands and fingers such as the WM158G but practically all my 34 gals have XS nails fitted. I'm lucky enough to have a friend who has her own nail salon and so she has done all my dolls nails. Replacing them is straight forward, you just carefully peel off the factory nail then spread a tiny drop of superglue on the inside of the new nail and press it onto the nail bed, quickly dabbing up any excess glue with a tissue. Most stores tend to only stock larger size false nails so you would probably have to go to a nail salon to get the smaller XS size. Then there's the shape to consider, I tend to go for the almond shape mainly although a couple of my gals have got some rather pointy nails. I'm attaching a bunch of pics to give you some ideas of what's possible. I'm surprised more folk don't change their gals nails as it's easy to do and they look great! Hope that helps...

They look great and thanks for the info. I guess Ill just stick to the WM stock ones if these XS sizes are not available to purchase anywhere.

Hi again, it might be worth checking eBay, I just did a quick search and I found a load of listings for custom nails in the correct size. Obviously these are in the UK but I would imagine nail artists do this in other countries too:
