Quoating attachments?

Why do some attachments not display when quoting someones post?
Below is an example of what I mean.

If it's an "[Img]" they seem to appear in the quoted thread, but "attachments" often don't?

My workaround has been to copy the image link and insert it as such in the quoted thread, but this seems to be an extra step that shouldn't be required if you're quoting a comment directly

Quoted attachments never display. Sorry, that is how it works.

As mentioned by Star88, linked images do show when quoted.

Sometimes when I quote attachments I copy the image address of the attachment and use the IMG tags

In quotes I often replace fullsize images by a thumb.

Thats what I've learned to do, but I honestly thought this was some sort of glitch... could have sworn I'd been able to quote posts that would include the attachments.

Sorry Star, even in the latest version of phpBB a quoted attachment does not show, although it may show a bit differently -just filename instead of an empty box.

The code tag is to show coding without the coding being interpreted

but what happens when you put something inside the code or list brackets?

What would the purpose be for doing this?

And does one really need a special coding language to make a list?

-apples
-oranges
-bananas

when it can just be typed out like I just did with fruit?

Nobody is telling you to use these tags, these are available for those who like to use them. I only tried to explain them. Thank you.

On a slight tangent, I've noticed that the "select all" button on the code doesn't work. It just throws me to the top of the page. I'm using the current Firefox browser with Win10.

I believe it does that because there is no code, other then what is visible. There is no scroll bar on the right of the code window.

For me, it does the same thing on a longer code with scroll bars. I noticed this happening a long time ago, just never mentioned it to anyone. Not a big deal, just kind of annoying.

No worries, I didnt think you were telling me to use them. I was just still trying to understand what they did, like if making a list with them linked to something...
Guess it doesn't really matter though if i'm not using them
