Welcome to the January Cat D 'PCM' Challenge! (Photo Composite / Manipulation)
This challenge is about developing your photo editing skills. To edit your original image to fit the theme. You may have to add, remove, ... whatever it takes.
This months theme is “Paradise” As I'm writing this from my little vacation spot down in the Sunshine State, thoughts of paradise were on my mind. I thought I would keep it super simple, so the interpretation of "paradise" I leave to the entrants to decide.
Here are some very helpful links to tutorials and tips that you may find useful (Thanks Swan): How to Gurus ... https://www.youtube.com/user/howtogurus rafy A ... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB69ii ... DhrwJlrzsw Howard Pinsky ... https://www.youtube.com/user/IceflowStudios
Please, everyone…. Have Fun!
And, as with last month, if you are willing to share your techniques, Please Do!
This challenge will run until 7:30pm Eastern Time (U.S.) on January 28, 2018 with the next three days for voting. The top three winners (including any ties) will be announced shortly after the poll has ended. When there are ties, there are more winners!
Also. Don't be shy in letting a participant know you like a submission! I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's entries again this month. This challenge has brought out some really amazing work from everyone so far, and it keeps getting better!
Incoming Host ... The following rules cannot be changed or modified.
1. The host will create a theme that requires the entrant to edit their original image...... 2. Each entrant will post their entry and the original image...................................... 3. Wow, i didn't expect anyone to enter already. Nice kick off LoneRanger! I'll admit it's been a little chilly here, in the 50s. But it was 2 degrees in my home town today, so it seems pretty balmy to me. Lol

Nice job, and I like how her hair is lit. And yeah, at 0 degrees windchill by me a little fire sounds kind of nice.

Okay, I'm back from my vacation. And now that Anna and I have made up for our 8 days apart, we figured it was time to start thinking about the photo challenges.
For this one we went with the idea that paradise is more in your mind than an actual place. On that line of thought, here is Anna Marie in "Paradise Is Only an Attitude Away"

This was a pretty straight forward composite, consisting of background, chair, Anna, and a drink. I tried to get her to hold an actual drink, but her poor fingers...
I also tweaked the color of the chair and umbrella to sorta match her bathing suit, because... well, because she told me to. lol

As far as whether that meets the requirements of the challenge... Adjusting the exposure certainly counts as "manipulation". And, since nothing was ever clearly defined beyond that, I'm tempted to say that it counts. I know the trend has certainly leaned more heavily toward the "composite" side of this challenge, though. So anyway, I think I'm going to do is allow it and people can use their votes to disagree with me in the end, and their comments here of course. And if there are compelling arguments against it, maybe we can consider clarifying the rules for future challenges. I hope that's okay with everyone.

I know during the moonlight challenge, I had originally entered a photo with very little editing.
I was told that it was acceptable, though would probably not win or get many votes due to it being a composite/manipulation challenge.
I feel it should be allowed, as there was some manipulation.
All that really matters in the end, is if the photographer is happy with the results, their happiness is more important than winning any contest.
I have learned over the few months I have been doing these challenges, to create something that makes me proud of my dolls, and if it gets votes it gets votes and if it doesn't, then at least I am happy with the results. My gif this month is an example...it may not win, but seeing the photos of Arabella with her outfit and hair etc. made me realize just how gorgeous she can be, and to me that is more important than anything else.
