It is most likely not enough dry TPE that you powdered. I got a similar effect after being too impatient with air drying my WM168E. So when I applied cornstarch powder I started to see white blocks here and there. I thought I was damaging my doll. Turned out I was just applying cornstarch powder to early. Even though you have dried your TPE gal with towels you dabbed on her you might still want to wait a few hours (yup, sucks) before you apply powder to avoid this annoying mess since it means you will just have to shower that away and let her dry again. Don't worry in other words; it is most likely cornstarch powder interacting with some water due to not 100% dried TPE gal! ;)

Actually this is a good thread, and I too have this issue. So if it's a wet doll then just let her dry overnight. I have thi s mostly with tan dolls and even new ones get this blotchy look. Makes pictures look bad, and I did fix it using a damp cloth soaked in baby oil. Some dolls even new have it go on unevenly and I may guess the settling of TPE as it 'cured' when the doll cooled in the mold may explain this too. I may try cocoa powder mixed with regular powder and see if it helps.

Thanks for sharing Mishka! Be careful with the cocoa powder. It is a bug attracter. Ive had bugs eat holes in a doll I used it on. Never again. You may think I have a bug problem?
Who doesn't? I exterminate regularly however bugs always find their way in. I certainly don't want bugs to be attracted to food on my dolls.
Theres got to be another product that is not edible.

That doll must have been really fresh from the factory. Happy you found a solution, I usually wash and let any new doll dry overnight hanging from a hook in the hot and ventilated bathroom before I consider powdering.

That video with the sock is genius, always wanted a trick like that to evenly powder the doll - great info. You learn something new every day here :)

Do you also use cornstarch Alottahope? Or Talc. Any organic starch will be food for bugs.

You will always notice this issue more on darker dolls because of the color of the powder.

Do you guys want a dark powder? I'm pretty sure I could make a dark renewal powder without cocoa. Just mineral powder and Talc or starch. It's really not all that different than adding pigment to BodyColor².

Quite some time ago I suggested using setting powder; it was in another thread which I can't find right now. It comes in lots of different colors. Perhaps the biggest issue is the cost.

Found an old thread about using food coloring to darken powder/cornstarch:

I've done some basic tests. I think it may work. Biggest issue is pigment coming out of the powder onto the individual using it.

I'm using mineral powder. Better than food coloring.

This is kind of fun if I can get it right. I'm wondering if I can make a blue powder now.

Simples.

Sponge bath s with fresh water ONLY, to remove residue, a very light paraffin based mineral oiling only when flesh feels either tacky or drags when drawing the finger across it, and only powder when laying up the dolly in a box in either humid conditions or winter, so you can inhibit mold formation.

Dry flesh means oil leeching, and it is the electrons in the oils in the hydrocarbon chain that helps maintain her tpe covalent and ionic bonds.

When removing dolly from storage, fresh water sponge bath to remove powder residue and light oil time again when she is dry, as part of her revival from cryo procedure.

Silicone gals are a different regime altogether than tpe gal upkeep, I have posted a swag on this. Just too many posts to find them all right now.

Great post!! I love that sock technique!!! I have had 2 silicone dolls but unfortunately they’re gone now and so I’m waiting with great anticipation for my next doll which will be TPE that I’ve purchased from Jeff of BCD. I cannot find Talcum powder very easily here in Canada & I’ve heard from a few posts that cornstarch can decay TPE eventually. Therefore my plan (and I haven’t read it mentioned here yet) ...is to mix up a bit of Baby-powder with I tiny bit of makeup-powder. The doll I will be getting be tanned so I’ll probably go with slightly darker colour. Any thoughts?

Congrats on your lady coming home soon! I've never heard of corn starch decaying TPE. How long does that take? That's all I use and never had any issues. My oldest girl is over 2 years old.

I'm glad everyone likes the tips in my video :D

I was told by the factory that made my tan silicone girl to mix this covergirl powder with her baby powder
