You're welcome

Next thing to try is to figure out how to add extra TPE into a hole Or damage and smooth it out with a heat gun.

Also thanks for making this a sticky!

This is where a solder iron comes in handy. However a heat gun will do it as well. With a solder iron you can pin point little areas you wish to fuse new to existing TPE. Solder iron work is a very delicate procedure. Very light touch is all that is needed. Being creative with homemade tips is helpful too. Also, the IR thermometer would come in handy finding out temp of solder iron tip.
This is the sort of thing I've been trying to master. Not easy if hole is fairly big.
With heat gun, and a sculpting ball and a sliver of TPE, it can be nudged into place, and smoothed over. I did this to fill a hole.
When I was trying a torch and sculpting blade. Burned a small hole immediately :) way too hot and lack of control with a gas type heat.
Thankfully, was able to repair it fairly good.
These tears between vag and bum, may be wise to add some TPE in the tear, to help reduce the stress some when stretching. Possibly prevent from it happening again.
Mala78 did repair his lady with this type of tear, he's yet to add finishing, but what he's done so far looks good!!

Sounds good. I already have the tools, so I will experiment with that. The TPE paste idea to me sounds like something I would like to figure out better, along with a smaller nozzle heat gun tip for those hard to get areas.

I sort of figured out a paste too. it works. it's the dreaded Xylene mix. :)
3 to 4 teaspoons of Xylene
1/4 teaspoon (level) of vaseline. Maximum
1x1 inch square of TPE 1/2 inch thick. cut into small bits.

Mix it all up in a glass jar or tin cup, cover with paper towel, stir it up occasionally. Takes approx 48 hours to get to a decent paste.
In a pinch it would work for someone. Having the same TPE that is being repaired is the best, but has worked with another blend/color. Just not as well.
Once majority of Xylene has evaporated it gets like syrup. The paste did not harm the TPE on my test toy at all.
Of course I've not tried it on doll. So I will not assume it will work. But have tested this on the tester quite extensively.
Looks terrible but sealed it up decent:) Smooth it over with heat will help it blend in even more. Just a homemade remedy.

For a big gash on a knee or elbow it will probably work. Something like Crazycajuns' paste injection.

For a small tip make one from steel brake line tubing. I made one that is 2mm. This is how I got into the groin a bit better with heating small areas.
The heat gun you have is a bit more difficult to custom make tips, but is possible.

Thanks,

Now I'm quite confident in repairs and whenever I see damaged dolls, I now say - I know how to repair that!

One question that pop in mind Mishka is:

Could we use that technique to close up a hand cut following a hand repair? The cut is small but rather deep.

Yes and no. How do I know? I just finished doing a hand repair. I used a solder iron to stitch seam, then hot air to blend the surface. It is a craft this hot air and heat work. takes a load of practice to get it perfect. Which I am still trying to master.
Here is my hand replacement thread. It may give you some ideas. I'm not 100% satisfied with the finish, but can get it better with a bit more time.
viewtopic.php?f=229&t=101560 The finish is on second page.

Thank you, It reassure me a little that I could fix my doll in the future. Meanwhile I already needed a smd rework station that come with a temperature controled hot air nozzle ( way smaller than a heat gun ) . Think it would be even better.
Dolls are awesome ! :glou:

Hey Mishka, my Taylor doll's wrists both need tightening.. Do you think the tools I have planned to get below will suffice for such an endeavor? Thanks.

Looks good. I would get some pliers, wire cutters and similar tools. That hinge bolt may be welded, and you may need a drill to break that weld.
A 1/4" small socket set will be needed.

Let us know how you fair
