Re: Figma Action Figure Collection - Complete Photo Sets
Today I have a new figure that isn't a Figma but is in the same scale. This time it's 2B from Nier Automata.
Bring Arts is a line of scaled figures from Square Enix, featuring only their characters as far as I know. In comparison to Figma the quality is noticeably lower, mainly in the paintwork and complete character detail. Still, the figure has very well designed clothing and fabric detail, shown mainly on her dress and stockings. The boots have a nice wet leather look, and the included robots (not shown) have excellent paint detail.
The figure is a well done representation of 2B, though since it's coming from Square Enix's figure line a 1/6 scale Play Arts Kai version would be preferred since they retain a high level of quality similar to Figma figures. Perhaps they'll release one in the future and I'll add it to the wish list for more photos.
Pricing
Average Cost: $80-120 USD
Price Paid: $90 (Used store credit to buy, actual cost was free)

Re: Figma Action Figure Collection - Complete Photo Sets
Today's Figma is the timid though eccentric Ranko Kanzaki from The iDolm@ster series. The figure comes with her umbrella accessory, two books, three face plates, and the standard Figma accessories.
Every Figma comes in a special art box made for shelf display, with decorated panels on every side of the box except the back which has the usual product info along with a short description of the character and included pieces. Also included in each box in a pull out diorama background so you can take photos of the figure with usually either the logo of the media they hail from or a decorated scenery, depends on which figure you buy.
Not having the box for your figure doesn't let you appreciate it less, though without it the figure always feels incomplete.

Re: Figma Action Figure Collection - Complete Photo Sets
Today's Figma is the powerful servant Rider from Fate / Stay Night. Included are her chained daggers, two face plates, and the standard Figma accessories.
Figma figures since their inception have used two plastic types: a standard hard plastic with a matte finish for areas such as limbs and the face plates, and a soft plastic that moves freely used on areas like long hair strands and clothing that hangs off the main figure. Rider is a good example of how each material ages, as her hair is made up of a combination of the two types.
Since her hair is so long the artist choose to have flowing hair in certain areas like her bangs, while keeping a chunk of it a solid plastic likely to increase durability. The soft long pieces are easy to move and move with the figure, providing some extra realism to photos. However, the difference in material used means the coloring doesn't fade to the same degree, creating different colors on different layers of her hair. It doesn't take away from the figure in my opinion, and with some soft lighting the mix of these two colors can provide even more vibrant details. Rider was originally released sometime in 2011, so it's taken a few years for it to get to this odd color duality.

Re: Figma Action Figure Collection - Complete Photo Sets
Today's Figma is a classic, the knight king Saber in her casual outfit. The figure comes with an amazing assortment of accessories: chopsticks and rice bowl fingers, kneeling legs attachment and standard legs, training sword, three face plates, and the standard Figma accessories.
Figma has plenty of variety in characters available, though some are so popular they create multiple versions across the various series lines. Saber casual is one of the earliest Saber models available with her first incarnation being in the knight costume as figure 003, though her full lineup of variants includes so many different styles and outfit: Alter, Altria armor, Pendragon armor, casual, knight, archer, etc.
Other characters such as Hatsune Miku also get many unique variants while characters most are one off versions in their most recognizable appearance. Even using the same character, each figure always includes unique traits and accessories that set them apart.

Re: Figma Action Figure Collection - Complete Photo Sets
Today's Figma is a well known wanderer, this time I have Red from the original Pokémon games. Red comes with three Pokemon figures, standard Pokeball, removable backpack, and the standard Figma accessories.
Growing up like most kids in the 90s I got into Pokémon, first the cards then the games, with my first one being the special Pikachu edition on the Gameboy. Since Red was originally meant to act as a proxy for the player, he was made to look fairly generic as a character, though actual artwork of him shows a confident and serious young kid that is going out into an unknown world similar to Ash from the original cartoon show. He was goofy and childish, but knew when to get serious.
The more modern games emphasize a far more peaceful and lighthearted protagonist, though I still prefer the delinquent nature that Red shows in a single photo.

Today's Figma is the mascot of Culture Japan, Mirai Suenaga. She comes with two face plates, mini camera with specialized gripping hand, a laptop computer accessory, mini doll accessory, and the standard Figma accessories.
No stories today, just some fun pictures to look at. I'll soon be adding a new thread where random pictures of figures will be posted, including ones featuring multiple characters from my collection. The current thread is devoted to showing new figures, but this second one will be all about interaction.

Re: Figma Action Figure Collection - Complete Photo Sets
Today I have another non-Figma figure, this time from Figuarts is Cure Moonlight from HeartCure in her silhouette dress. She comes with a mountain of accessories, including a large selection of hands including ones for another version of her figure, stands, special effect plates with clip pieces to hold them up, wand, four face plates, and a stand for her.
The design on this one is really well done, though it's flimsier than a Figma figure due to having thinner joints. Still, this one really stood out to me thanks to a really unique design that puts color use and clothing as the premier trait over a heavily sexualized female body, though she still is very attractive as a character. I haven't watched the show she's in yet either, but I'll take a peak at some point.

Thank Shredhead, I have many more planned to post this month. The next figure is another woman with an odd but unique costume showing off a lot of skin.
