Video chatting with your doll: Just around the corner?

So I was watching the video in this link, and couldn't help but think that taking some photographs of a doll's face with one of the teeth sets and eyelid sets in various expressions, however limited those sets of photos might be, would still help the software to generate animated video clips of one's doll. Clips that could be paired to a voice actor, or to a video clip from a movie or TV show, for the purposes of heightened imagery of dolls, for instance. Were that technology paired with an AI like Replika, someone with the resources to make it happen would make a butt-load of money. Imagine getting video chats from your Replika with your dolls face as the foundation for it...
Maybe we aren't so far from this after all...
