7. The TDF Doll Award 2018 for Best Doll Invention goes to

Thank you to all who participated in nominating candidates to for the 2018 TDF Doll Awards

The Panel checked all the nominations and The Jury verified this. It was decided that all valid nominations are entering the final poll. Also for each category The Panel added one or two wildcards along the nominations assigned by the members of TDF.

Category 7: Best Doll Invention. A note in regards to this Category, nominations for Best Doll Invention didn't work out as expected. Nominations are more about favourite features than inventions. Some nominated features are offered by several manufacturers, or have been offered for years. Remember that Anatomical Doll already offered an internal heating system, and there were others too. Instead of rejecting nominations that were not specific or which are doubtful on who was the first, we decided to allow them all, changing this category into "Favourite Feature."
Nominations by TDF members. Wildcards have been assigned to the ball-jointed skeleton and to Harmony AI.

So here we go, please give your vote! One vote per member in each category. Everyone is allowed to vote (with the exception of newbie and doll accounts, sorry for that). Voting is open for 8 days.

I’ll just give this one a little bump for more votes as it’s number 7 on the list of Awards for this year and all categories could do with more votes!

The nominations for all of these awards were from members of TDF! In some of the awards though, there were a few wild cards entered which the panel (made up of staff who are also ordinary volunteer members) believed worthy of a nomination which were not nominated by members. If you missed them, go to The TDF Doll Awards Forum via the link at the top of this page you can see those nominations by members and the comments made as to why they nominated them in the previous round of posts!

These polls are very similar to the monthly Photo Challenges where you don’t see the original post comments and only the entries to vote on.

I can say, as a member of the jury, all discussions were conducted appropriately and no bias given to any entries, including wild cards. Some “comment” posts without a nomination etc were removed in order to maintain an unbiased approach to these awards. The jury were able to view these.

I wonder which year we get to vote on dolls that can wash dishes, make annual tax declarations, ...

All of these are impressive innovations. It will be interesting to see this year how the slowing global economy affects innovation in this non-essential industry.
