Importing to Canada

Hi has anyone imported an SSD doll to Canada? I don’t really understand the SSD VAT clearance. Let’s say I buy a doll for $2500 cad. Have people had to pay addition duties and taxes? I imagine if declared value is listed as $2500 then there would be quite a bit of tax to pay.

It's approx 20% (It was for me)

Holy 20% that’s a lot. So then what does the SSD VAT clearance do?

So that would be extra $500 so total would be $3000 yikes

I paid $705.00 CDN, to seller in China. When Fedex had it ready for me, they called, and I had to pay $170.00 to them. So that is all I really know. Almost 25%

May as well say it is 25%. Seller did put actual price on box. I guess some get burned when seller puts a low ball price on it. I've read a few Customs stories like that.
I guess you'd be best to contact CBSA and ask.
My receipt from Fedex did not really specify a whole lot. They snail mailed me a receipt. I'll have to dig that up, have a better look at it.

I paid 1800$ USD for my doll and had to pay 15% tax + 271$ of custom fees (that I like to call Custom Rape Fee) ...finally she was close to 3000$ cad after all this...

2340 CAD$ + 351$ in tax + 271$ in custom rape fees. -> 2962$

It was not from SSD but I guess it would be the same since it would pass thru custom...

Value is Converted from US to Canadian funds, and fees, etc is based on the Canadian value.. Fedex charges a fee to collect for the Mob, I mean Government

650 bucks for "paper" How did that make you feel at the time? That's chunk of money. May as well say you paid for your lady and her flight home

I bought from another vendor twice. Cost was as advertised and there was no tax. Only a $150 ish extra duty fee. Has it changed in Canada?

They'll (CBSA) charge the tax upon arrival at border. Fedex will collect duty/taxes on your behalf, and will charge a fee for the service. This is how it went down for me.

Try asking if they do line shipping to Canada. It's usually a lot cheaper than paying customs/VAT on import.

I suppose the more we pay for product, the more they get the duty and taxes.

They add value and duty together, then calculate the sales tax on that total. Fedex will pay for you, then you owe them, plus 10 bucks service fee. And dolly will come home
