What to use for silicone repair?

Post by Ufoultra »

Hi everyone,

My poor gal has a tear, does sil-poxy work on Sanhui silicone? I got her in mid 2018.

Thanks for any help, also the tear was from improper storage position. No fault of the Dolls design, it's a great doll.

Thanks!

As far as I know, you can use Silpoxy or permatex.
I have had good results with both on my 2016 Sanhui 145 lady.

Hope that helps....

I have been using SEALANT GE SILICONE 2 II PAINTABLE CAULK for several years.
It is great & I recommend it, but for some reason it dries up if stored for a while =(

Image

The GE above is a rather large tube & not really good for just small repairs (maintenance)

I am assuming this ' Permatex ' is smaller? (may last longer & re-close w/ out allowing drying)

May a photo of this exact item be shared? (PERMATEX for Platinum Silicone repair)
( Silpoxy is in the $20 to $30 dollar range for a 0..5 oz bottle on ebay )

Blessings,
~dave7311 & Valerie~ :glou:

You can get permatex at any automotive store.
Its silicone windshield sealant.

In my experience, Silpoxy dries/cures faster than the permatex.
Keep either one refrigerated after opening for longer shelf life.

And don't forget to clean the area with acetone before using the permatex or silpoxy.
Acetone can be gotten at any hardware or hobby store.

I use Permatex FLOWABLE silicone,

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B ... UTF8&psc=1

It is more beginner friendly and self leveling, easier to remove as well and do re-repairs. I believe RTV is more adhesive and if tried to be removed may remove actual silicone from the doll im my experience. I usually use flowable silicone for the more sensitive areas like canals .
