I have noticed most people here have a pic of their doll as their avatar so though it was about time I replaced my tardis avatar with a pic of my doll Shione.

Just read you previous post and don't worry as most of us start out posting some basic looking pics but actually you seem to have hit it off with Shione fairly quickly so I'm sure she will inspire you. Now one of the absolute great things about this forum is that you get to rub shoulders with some incredible photographers and if you study their stuff you can't help but pick up some tips. Of course to be a true artist takes experience, and a degree of knowledge, especially with regards to lighting and how to get the best out of your equipment. Speaking of which, although a fancy camera is nice to have its certainly not essential for getting good results. What I would say is that it might be a good idea to watch out on eBay for something like a Nikon , I've got a D3000 that was given to me a few years back and it really helped me to up my game then you can maybe invest in some fairly cheap diffused light boxes or an LED light (they are brilliant but get one with a power adapter as they eat batteries). I bet your can find a half decent digital SLR second hand on eBay for under £100. Anyway above all the name of the game is fun! So keep snapping and sharing!

Thanks Arthur this is great advice, I really appreciate it buddy, I will look out for these things, will make a list of stuff to get, its a nice project to have.

I am spending a lot of time on TDF looking at other peoples photos, getting inspiration.
And yeah I know my pics may look amateurish compared to most members pics but Im posting anyway because its fun.

I hope when people do look at my pics what comes across is "OK this is a guy with limited resorces but he loves his doll and is enjoying what he is doing, good for him" and if that's all anyone thinks looking at them then I'm happy with that.

She says she is extremely happy with her new dress and when she takes it off tonight she is going to show me just how happy she is.

That's a nice dress and certainly suits Shione. It looks very much like you have managed to get her to 'free stand' unless you have some support tucked out of view, if so then well done! I have a couple of my gals that will give it a go, they generally have tight ankle joints but I don't take my eyes off them! Still it certainly adds another layer of realism to your pics!

Thanks Arthur, yeah she is free standing, got her balance right this morning, I have had her free stand before but as I walk round her the floor boards would move and she would sway back and forth a little which caused me to lose me nerve and prop her against the wall but today I just seemed to get it spot on.
Can't balance her without shoes I tried once while dressing her and she wasnt having it so she is always wearing trainers when standing.

Thank you serge, free standing is scary, I have had Shione fall once but I was standing right beside her and caught her quickly before she got hurt. I just didn't have her balance right that time but I will keep trying it from time to time because it does look good.

Great jeggings. Something in Shione, her eyes maybe makes me think about women in Edward Hopper paintings.

Falling doll I got terrible memories. Happened once on my Sanhui. She had different boots with round soles and swoosh-thump! Straight on her face. One eye looking up, makeup smudge and a dent in her forehead. I was devastated for 7 days. Nothing broke thanks Sanhui. She still has the dent, I couldn't massage it out, so a baby hair curl hides it. Still get shivers thinking about her ordeal.

Hi Wight, I had to go look up Edward Hopper paintings as I know nothing about art but I like his work so Shione is happy with that comparison.

I had not noticed Ginevra having a dent so you cover it up well.
I would have been devastated if Shione had hit the floor so I can imaging how terrifying that moment would have been for you.
