tightening a loose joint using varnish or superglue ?

Post by Dollsampler »

Especially for dolls you want to stand, loose joints at the knees and the hips are really a nuisance.Soon or later such problem occur nevertheless.
I have read that some small dolls owners use super glue or varnish they inject in the ball or hinged joints in order to stiffen the joints from time to time

That could be done here carefully with a seringe without cutting the silicon or the TPE (necessary for a mechanical tightening)

The method is to inject no excess fluid and manipulate the jointed pieces during curing in order to avoid a seizure
Has anybody already tried such method for life-sized silicon or TPE dolls?

Let us be more precise about a way to do it that way (a seringe) without cutting the TPE or silicone. A simple varnish or paint wont work because an air flow is needed to evacuaie the solvants for the medium to harden.Super glue need air to cure I assume and will not be injectable easily. So it just remain the two components époxy or polyurethane or else paints and varnish which should cure in an confined space without air renewal. As a safety to avoid complete seizure we should look for an elastic paint or varnish/resin. The idea is just to fill up the clearance between the pin, the sleeves, the washers... with a fluid.which stay elastic and preferably expand in volume upon curing. Such product does exist probably the problem beeing to find it in retail stores.
