Question for iOS users. How to download files and open files

OK, this appears to be an issue for iOS users (AKA I phone, i Pad).

The issue is discussed here viewtopic.php?p=1574616#p1574616

A member who uses an iOS system with I Pad type tablet, was initially unable to DL MP3 files from here to his device, so we tried with 2 specific DL apps for the iOS e downloader and I downloader apps.

The issue with the direct file DLs is that the app is not getting permission to DL the link directly from the copy link and paste link for DL function.

Now, this works for a google drive links, but then the member can not load or play the file.

I am not tech savvy enough with the iOS to provide further assistance, so can someone who is using this system and getting it working correctly, please explain the issue or what to do to fix it, as I am out of options to assist.

I am sure there are other IOS who have faced the same issue, or who have solved it.

I’m still having no luck, even the original file you sent me will not play now
It says it’s there but when I go to view it, it will not come up, both apps will just sit there and think

Anung when reloading the app a msg said the app has been updated to comply to apple guidelines Even the other links you sent me that I’ve played back before will not play now

My knowledge about iOS is very limited. But at least I have an iPhone from work, so I could test it. Damn, no option to download a MP3 file? Really? Even with Chrome this seams not possible.
I don't know anything about those download apps, but the topic from what you want to download is in a members only section. Does the download app handle that and ask for login? Can you please try with a MP3 from a topic in an open forum?

Ok ...for the purpose of fault finding this...I am going to shift the entire music topic to Official announcements so we can see if this solves the issue.

This saves creating test topics...and I can shift it back later if still no dice.

Perhaps two issues here Dees...Apple tampering and the one Tsall has addressed.

So lets look at getting them onto the system, once we got the file in the device downloads, then we can address access and play...a couple of steps here to work through.

otherwise...i am buying you an android device or cheap PC for XMAS

Feel free to try once done, and let us know if this solves it. OK folks done...have at it!

For anyone interested in downloading music files onto your iOS device this EDownloader app seems to be working well,
It does prohibit downloading from private sites but if a link is given it will work
here is a little help on how to make it work

AH HA...Solved for now, OK, will leave topic where it is for now until I can ID another suitable public section, so we now know a datum for the restriction...the members sections limitations, so by leaving where it is discounts that potential, for the interim to investigate any further glitches.

I wanted to answer this here instead of polluting the mus topic any further,

EDownloader app will not accept a link from any private part of TDF, only open public forums
I’m pretty sure it worked before but I believe an update in the app has changed it

It also works without an additional app.
When I select an MP3 or MP4, a dialogue with Show or Load appears. (I have a German IOS, I don't know what it's called in English, but it will be something like that).
Displaying does not work at all, but loading works indirectly. The only confusing thing is that there is no message that it has happened. After a few seconds or minutes, the file is available in the Icloud. I only found this by chance.
