Newbie Here
I’m Neon based in UK and only relatively recently have been made aware of love dolls but very quickly become fascinated with them!
This forum has already provided some great information so I thank you all
I haven’t purchased a doll yet but at the moment I’m thinking about the WM161 from thedollhouse and super exited to get into the hobby!
I hope in the near future I’ll be able to contribute to these forums.
Have a great day

Re: Newbie Here
Weight is most important consideration. My first doll weighs 60 pounds and it took 2 weeks to get used to lifting/moving her. Be careful and good luck choosing.....

Re: Newbie Here
Not too long ago, I was saying the same. Fascinating!!!
Many new owners have said they cannot get used to the smell at first. TPE is formidable, once you've given her a few sponge baths...
What smell?? If you are sensitive to smells that is something to consider. Silicone is a lot more "medical grade" less smell.
Heavy weights too. My lady weighs 60 pounds, not a lot ,but getting her out of the box from the floor was a surprise. Awkward...
2 important factors to consider at first.

Re: Newbie Here
The only slight concern in my head is the weight(I have some more research to do before committing); I guess it’s something to get used to, a minor con next to a large list of pros at the moment.
When I take the leap I look forward to sharing her

Girlfriends are for guys who haven't found the right doll yet.
I feel much better now that I've given up hope.

Re: Newbie Here
Oh, i completely agree, i'm not at the stage where I can afford two dolls so I will make sure the one I get is best and I am fully prepared for it.JackieTreehorn wrote: It's no fun to wait, but taking a few weeks to fill your head with knowledge will help you make the best choice.
The waiting time I am filling up with not just research but also inspiration from what others have done, particularly in regards to dressing them up. I already have some ideas I'm looking forward to trying
Re: Newbie Here
I'm in exactly the same position as the OP in terms of being at the research stage. Regarding the smell of TPE, I would guess that anything alcohol based i.e. perfumes etc won't be viable to override it so I was curious what, if anything people might counter the smell with? or is it something you just get used to/disappears after a while?RGC_0767 wrote:They are fascinating, aren't they?

Also taken on board comments regarding weight, one of the things that surprised me when I first found out about these dolls was just how heavy they can be! I think the weight is ultimately a good thing as it adds a lot to the realism factor, just wouldn't be the same if they weighed significantly lighter I suspect.

Re: Newbie Here
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome Tachyon39. The TPE smell bothers some and not others, and it usually fades away within a short time. I use Burt's Bees Honey Dust baby powder, which is a cornstarch blend with fragrances and no talc.Tachyon39 wrote:Regarding the smell of TPE, I would guess that anything alcohol based i.e. perfumes etc won't be viable to override it so I was curious what, if anything people might counter the smell with? or is it something you just get used to/disappears after a while?
