The good news is they do not roll very much, if at all. I've unintentionally mangled her hand moving her around, and they stay uniform. they get bent, but easy to straighten. I suppose when they're molded, the TPE takes hold of cloth, or flex tube, or whatever is there. With my lady originally having flex tube with wires coming out, could see the indents inside from those in the TPE. If needing to remove fingers again, they slide right out. No longer grabs the TPE. And that is probably a good thing. Reduces twisty fingers considerably.RainKing wrote:RGC_0767 wrote:The TPE does add some stiffness to those wires, doesn't it? That's what I felt anyway with LuAnne. cleaned out adhesive and am redoing with original 5 strand tag wire.
will report back.
I never did get a real firm grip. I got her so she's flexible. Almost double jointed
You'll get it where you are both pleased!!
The TPE adds a feeling of uncertain when bending, its close to the factory, but since the wires have no cloth and adhesion to the TPE they feel like worms a little. But I can manage and I can always roll them if they get twisted up unlike before. She came from the factory with one finger turned sideways anyhow. and not understanding how it works, never knew until I took it apart.
I got the construction adhesive packed into the plate and filled until it began coming out the 2 rear holes. I cleaned it up with 91% isopropyl and cleaned the wound again. After a bit the adhesive settled even further and I poked some in on a cut off Q tip stick until filled again and made sure none came out the rear side holes. Being I am afraid there may be a gap in the TPE when I am finished.. I am glad I shaved some samples to test glue off of the neck stump. so I can make a bit of a TPE paste I can fill with. if so.
I am going to leave it now until tomorrow if any of the adhesive sticks to the TPE i am sure it will peel or flake off pretty easy, since damn near no adhesive will stick to TPE (Except dirt, debris and hair, and all kinds of other stuff that is unwanted.)
So far I think 5 wrapped strands of Tag wire and heat shrink tubing is perfect. good tension, nice bend-ability, and I even took some quick steel and made some little blunt tips on the end to help decrease the finger pokes.
Now its hurry up and wait time.

General Dollspital!
Eva goes to the hospital and gets her stitches out.... She moves her new hand around like Luke Skywalker did at the end of Empire strikes back... She says, "It's all better now!"
Here is the Final!
Would closed well for a first time surgeon I think. Later will clean up and smooth over with some heat to smooth it up.
And RGC has shown me a video that looks WAYYYYYYY worse. TFM!! he may can fling turds, but he can't do hands!
Thanks for all those have have came before me and left good details on repairs and tricks!
Our Regards,
RainKing & Eva
