Hi,

a while ago I asked if some of you were curious about new Chinese manufacturers; that thread got derailed after a couple of days, and it took me a while to figure out if and how I'd wanted to follow-up. Though, one of the more interesting newcomers, Maiden Doll, is showing up everywhere; our collegues from Lefevre Webstore in France even set up a domain maidendoll.fr (they also operate ds-doll.fr, wmdolls.fr, ordoll.fr, and yldoll.fr). So at least I got curious enough to order one of these Maiden dolls.

Maiden Doll is a TPE doll brand; the company behind this brand is Guangzhou Lifanou International Trade Co., Ltd., which is an independent TPE manufacturer based in Southern China. We found two different addresses for Lifanou, one in Guangzhou and one in Dongguan; the first one is probably the office, the second one is probably the factory. Though we can not positively verify where the dolls are actually manufactured as Lifanou, as - without exception - all other Chinese vendors and manufacturers, does not have a export permit; so we can not pick up the packages with our own DHL Express account from a factory address. As usual, the dolls are manufactured "somewhere" and then domestically shipped to a so called shipping agent, usually based in Hong Kong. This shipping agent takes care of the export. All of you who might have ordered "directly" from a Chinese doll manufacturer have received a shipment from one of these shipping agents. This is business as usual in China.

The history of Maiden Doll is largely unclear; according to hearsay, their origins go back to a couple of renegades from Jinsan factory. This pedigree splits to companies like 6YE and JY Doll; the Lifanou company seems to have gone separate ways from JY at some point and is now one of at least seven TPE factories independent from Jinsan we know of. For whatever reason, none of these manufacturers are represented on TDF yet. Just their resellers and OEM brands show up indirectly on TDF, like WM Dolls (Jinsan), Iron Tech (asiandolls.fr), or Doll House 168 (unknown factory). So let's have a look what's behind all this fuzz…

What I ordered from Maiden Doll was a bit experimental:

MA-165 (~165cm body)
skin tone: natural
finger & toe nails: pink
vagina insert (removeable)
standing skeleton
two heads (Lifanou no. 23, blue eyes, wig #13 & no. 28, brown eyes, wig #11)

There are a couple of intentional "breaking points" built into this order - I wanted to see how they'd deal with it.

Among several other "breaking point", Maiden does not have a "Natural" skin tone. They have pink, yellow, white, and brown. King pu, the sales representant, told me after placing the order, "natural" would be "yellow" for them. But what would they send me?

Also, I ordered the tallest and heaviest doll they have, combined with the standing skeleton option. Honestly, I have never seen a 36+ kg doll standing on her own feet. 28 kg yes, maybe 32 kg, but 36 kg? Naaaah…

So what I'm testing with this order is not only the product itself but also the business attitude. How do they deal with promises they probably can not keep?

However, the order was paid on July 8th; the package was delivered on July 20th. A little less than three weeks total turnaround time, including lead time to make the doll, shipping, and clearing customs. That's not bad. Not all suppliers are that fast.

So let's begin (this Unboxing will be a bit longer than usual)…

1) Shipping & Packaging.

Nothing out of the ordinary here. The doll comes in a (heavy) carton box. The shipping papers stated a total weight of 45 kg.

But what's this:

To me it reads something like: "165+38+17 yada yada". I hope that's not the numbers of the heads they sent me…

On the side of the carton, the dimensions of the box are printed:

It states: "158 x 45 x 30 cm". After shipping, the actual box I got was 3 cm shorter and one cm wider and higher (155 x 46 x 31 cm). Again, business as usual.

This is clearly a poke of the neck thread that went through the padding and through the carton.

So they need to work on their packaging.

2) Padding & Wrapping.

No (major) compaints here.

Below the cushion are the two heads, two wigs and some accessories.

The doll is wrapped in a soft blanket. It a different blanket than used by Jinsan (pink with white dots) or DH168 (plain white).

What you can see all over the body are imprints of the padding. They dissapeared by itself after a couple of hours.

Are this pink or clear finger nails?

Whatever they are, for my personal taste they are way too long on a love doll. I'd strongly recommend to cut them down to a more reasonable size. If you like long finger nails like that, take extra care that they don't cut into the TPE skin.

Are this really pink toe nails?

Again, they are way too long.

Other than that, they are properly glued on and do not fall off. This if better than what we are used from Jinsan.

The standing skeleton uses the same stupid design with three screwes that poke through the TPE which other manufacturers use as well. So, no surprises here:

The neck connector is good. It's a solid piece of metal with a thread, not just a hollow pipe.

It's a standard M16 thread as used by Jinsan, DH168 and others as well.

However, this solid neck connector is better than the threaded pipes supplied by Jinsan. This neck connector will not deform easily.

According to Maiden Doll, the doll can be hung (temporarily) from the nack bolt, e.g. for dressing. I did that to check the weight; without head, this doll weights 37,4 kg.

The neck bolt survived short-time hanging, but I'm not sure if I and to repeat this too often.

The doll looks good so far. You ordered her with skin tone "natural" and got this, so this is the "light pink" we talked about? I like it, it seems not as "pale" as LPink from DS and has no yellow tint either.

Would be great to see a direct comparison of her and a (LPink) DS doll in one picture side by side. Or at least of the inserts, assuming that those are made of the same material and color as the dolls themself.

Yeah, I know, although I stated otherwise in my mail yesterday, now I want to see the rest of it (the review and the doll) too. Can't wait for more...

6) Skeleton.

Now we're getting to the nasty stuff. The skeleton is, let's say, simple. It has many things I dislike in certain other TPE dolls.

As the sign on the packagin stated: "No standing"! This is a so called "standing skeleton", and the feet have three holes for screws which are supposed to allow the doll to stand on her own feet. However, as I expected, this doll can not stand, neither in heels nor in shoes with flat soles.

Above are the shoes (EU size 36) with flat soles I got for her. One leg stays straight, the other one buckes in the knee as soon as weight is applied from the body. This doll is just too heavy for standing. The standing skeleton might work for more lightweight dolls (25-30 kg), but the skeleton is not up to the task to keep a 37,4 kg weight upright.

This issue is known for other manufacturer's standing skeleton as well. Even a 26 kg doll can only stand for a couple of months, then the joints get too week to even carry this weight. Also a general engeneering issue with the stupid screws in the feet is that it doesn't work well with high heels. Even if you have a lightweight doll, when you make her stand in hingh heels, you most probably will damage the screws in her feet.

So the MA-165 can not stand. This is not a disappointment as I expected it. Considering that, together with a head and a wig, this is ~40 kg doll; standing and a high weight are contrary requirements. No manufacturer can make such a doll stand on her own feet, not even high end silicone doll can do this. Either the soles of the feet get distorted from the weight, or the joints give in under the weight.

What can the skeleton do?

She can lift her arms like so:

This movement does not come from a rotating element in the forearm, as it did in the (very rigid) design used by DH168 beforer they switched to hinged wrists. In the MA-165, all bending and rotation happens through the wires. This does not feel very robust.

Also she can bend in the waist like so:

But beware when doing this at home, you are now risking damages!

I believe this is a valid position for a sex doll:

But what needs a sex doll be capable to take? Every position the owner imagines? Or is it only permissible to lay her on the back and spread her legs a bit, but not too far? I don't know. But my impression is that you risk damages when straining your doll to the edge.

So what can I tell about this skeleton without taking the doll apart? It is a simple TPE skeleton with no obvious enhancements. The neck uses gooseneck, cringes slightly, and is not very stiff. Most joints are very tight, some are a bit more loose; e.g., one knee joint is very stiff, the other one bends easily (that's what prevents her from staying).

Wrists are probably made with welded wires. The ankles can lift up and down, these joints are very tight. In the sole of the feet is a metal plate to connect the thre screws per foot. One foot can not rotate sideways, the other one can. According to Maiden Doll, the feet are not supposed to rotate sideways. This is an issue we encountered with other manufacturer's standing skeletons as well. There is a locking mechanism inside the ankle which tends to disconnect. I have no idea if it is better if the ankle can or can not rotate. As I recently checked, my DS can rotate her ankles without causing any damage. DH168 also can not rotate the ankles in the new skeleton with hinged ankles.

7) TPE blend and Skin tone.

As initially stated, I asked for a "Natural" skin tone. These are the skin tones as provided by Maiden Doll:

Visually, none of the skin tones from Maiden Doll match the skin tone I got. I might be "Pink". There is no way to tell; I asked to send a set of color samples but I didn't get them. Btw, I asked Jinsan resellers and OEM manufacturers for skin tone samples as well, but nover received them. The only manufacturer who was willing and able to supply skin tone samples is DS. I will add more skin tone comparison photos later

I am perfectly fine with the skin tone I got for this doll. It actually looks "Natural"; it is a beautiful skin color, not to pinkish and not too pale.

Regarding other material properties of the TPE blend used by Maiden Doll: The softness is in-between Jinsan's 3rd gen blend and the TPE blend currently used by DH168. It's neither really soft nor really firm. For posing and cuddling, the flesh in arms and head could be more firm for my taste. The butt and breasts could be a bit more soft.

The TPE leaks significant amounts of oil; it leaks less than Jinsan's current blend, but much more than DH168 TPE.

Also it has a chemical smell. Silmilar to Jinsan's 3rd gen blend, the smell of this TPE blend is masked with a parfume, so it doesn't smell bad. After leaving the doll on the air for a couple of days, the smell recedes. For my personal preferences, the ranking of current TPE blends is: 1) DH168; 2) Maiden Doll; 3) Jinsan. If you don't mind leaking oil and chemical smell, and expect the highest degree of softness, your ranking will be the other way around.

You might have noticed on earlier photos that his doll has almost no visible seamlines. This is excellent. Maiden Doll did a very good job to melt seamlines away.

However, no rule without exception:

These are her arm pits. This is the only strong seamline I noticced on the MA-165 so far.

The other arm pit doesn't look so good:

This looks like starting stretching tears. This might be caused by raising her arms upwards. As far as I know, a TPE doll is ssupposed to be capable of doing that unharmed (opposed to most silicone dolls).

Also, from bending her waist like shown above, wrinkles are starting to show up:

These wrinkles are not problamatic unless you let her keep the pose for too long. After easing her body back into the factory reset position, these wrikles will dissapear automatically after a couple of hours.

Though, this pose is dangerous! Her body weight rests on her elbows. Other dolls like those from DH168, my DS or even the heavy Maid-Fong can do this unharmed.

However, for the MA-165 the result of this pose are tears in the elbows:

So be warned, there are quite a couple of poses not suitable for a TPE doll. This also applies to Jinsan's TPE. Most durable in this reagard is - again - the DH168 TPE.

Please note that this kind of tear will most likely not happen if you strain your doll less than I did for this review.

Body shape and Lady parts.

No comment necessary. This butt is just awesome:

Please note that this is the insert version. As usual with TPE dolls, from the outside there is no visual difference between the variant with fixed/built-in vagina and removeable/insert vagina.

Laying on her back, stretching the legs far apart:

You can see that the butt hole stretches unevenly, depending which leg is spread farther, and there is no obvious indication for a starting tear.

This is a voluptuous body shape, very similar to Maidlee Dolls Maid-Fong.

Overall, the body shape of this doll is wonderful. If you dislike skinny legs and ultra-thin waists, this might be the right body for you. If you are looking for a mature body of a grown up woman, this is the right body for you. This body is curvy and not skinny at all. This is an excellent body shape and a great sculpt.

9) Heads and Heady-to-body proportions.

I ordered two head with this doll. My favourite is Lifanou no. 23 which looks like so in the manufacturer's photos:

I can easily recognize her. The face looks great and she has pretty, but unobstrusive makeup. The eyes are huge and look OK.

It's an OK wig. It's of similar (basic) quality as the Jinsan wigs - Maiden Doll just offers more choices. Especially they do have a wig with smooth long blonde hair, taken apart in the middle.

Regarding head-to-body proportions, this head wouldn't be my first chouce for the tall MA-165 body. This one might look better on a 150-160 cm body, or on a slim body.

The head circumference of head no. 23 is ~52 cm; head no. 28 is ~51 cm (measured directly above the ears).

Concluding, the Lifanou/Maiden Doll heads are quite good. They have a unobstrusive makeup and still look beautiful.

It would really help if Maiden Doll could tell which heads fit best to which body size.

Ah, both heads are oral capable. You just need to open ths lips wide and poke a bit into the oral cavity.

Certainly promising.

The wrists will break with metal fatigue.

The foot rotating sounds as though something is broken. It should go up and down but not side to side. DS have a special hinge to allow that rotation. The South Chinese skeletons don't. If the hinge for up-down is too tight then it's the metal plate that bends and . . . before long . . . breaks through metal fatigue.

In my experience the new Jinsan TPE does not leak oil to any noticeable extent except when compressed - and so I have not understood your comments here. In my view the Jinsan TPE is superb.

In my view the head you've received is not at all as charming as the manufacturer's photo.

The vaginal canal of the insert variant has no texture.

At the bottom of the vaginal canal is something that looks like a TPE plug:

These endoscope pictures are less conclusive than I hoped. Seems I need to learn how to use this thing.

11) Conclusion.

It's hard to come to a verdict for this doll. Is this would have been a PQC, she probably would have passed - but just if we'd skipped to test the ankles rotation and ignored the fact that this "standing doll" can not really stand.

Her strengths are the amazing body shape, some good level of body detail, beautiful heads, good makeup, deep and wide body cavities that probably accomodate well to the size of an average Caucasian male, and an overal quality that is OK, which could be considered "just good enough". Also noteworthy is the comparably low price tag.

Her weaknesses are that there are no improvements compared to a certain leading TPE manufacturer. As applicable to Jinsan dolls, neither the skeleton nor the TPE skin allows the expectation to last longer than a couple of months unharmed under normal usage. What you might get is a similar doll as from a Jinsan brand, with a slightly firmer TPE and a lower price tag. What you most probably won't get is a doll that is significantly more durable than one from Jinsan. And obviously it's not really acceptable to advertise a standing doll and ship one that can not stand.

What's good is the scope of supply; Maiden Doll adds everything all other TPE manufacturers might add as "gifts" as well, just a little bit more of everything. The doll came - more or less - as ordered; meaning: the configuration matched what I wanted (skin tone, eye colors, wigs). For us it might be self-evidence that what is ordered will be shipped, but the reality is different. With a certain manufacturer we have a 1:2 mismatch of what is ordered and what is actually shipped. So if Maiden Doll gets this right, they will be better. The doll's weight is advertised as 36 kg, the measured weight is 37,4 kg; this is within an acceptable range, considering that certain other manufacturers have deviations of >10% from the given specs. However, even 36 kg is a lot.

Though I'm a bit unsure about the colors of the finger and toe nails, but I don't have a photo which options are available from Maiden Doll. Also the no. 28 head looks very different on the promo photo. If I got the right head, I'd suggest to use another promo photo.

What's not so good is the packaging (poke in the carton), and that the package didn't include utilities like TPE glue, stain remover or nail glue. As some of you might have experienced with other manufacturers, these things can be hard to get after purchasing a doll. Also I'd like to have received skin tone samples, but - again - other manufacturer do not supply them either.

Please note that there is an important factor we can not assess based on a single review: manufacturing fluctuations and production spreads. Maiden Doll is a smaller factory than Jinsan, so it is possible that the margins of errors are smaller. However there is no way to tell at this point.

the most comprehensive review I have ever seen. Absolutely wonderful and crucial. It would be great for all manufactured dolls to have this kind of scrutiny upon arrival to promote quality control. Lovely doll.
