Side-by-side comparison Sino-doll - Doll Sweet S-lvl. makeup

Post by Dollstudio »

Hi,

I took a closer look at the Sino-doll S4 head in tanned skin color and Doll Sweet's Thera head with S-level makeup in cream skin color. Both heads are suitable for comparison as they are life-sized and bot feature as well upper as lower teeth (opposed to the more common bunny teeth).

Here are a couple of quick side-by-side comparison photos.

The setup is simple; both heads sit on a stand, aligned at a 90° angle. For the Sino head I am using a regular M16 thread. Pictures are taken frontally.

What catches the eye first is the angle the connector is aligned. For Thera to look straight, the neck would be adjusted straight upwards; for Sinos S4 head, the neck needs to be bent a couple of degrees to look straight.

Also notable is the size difference. Thera is one of the biggest DS heads, but S4 is nonetheless bigger, qualifying this head for tall bodies.

The S4 head has some nice details like the beauty mark, and the overall impression for me is rather realistic; this head clearly depicts an adult. Thera is way more stylized and appears more noble; the forehead creates a cute and doll-like shape.

While the DS head sits nicely centered on it's stand, the (very short) M16 thread of the S4 head tends to appear slightly uncentered. That could explain the sometimes seemingly odd angles a couple of people observed in the photos shown so far.

Still struggling with Sino-doll's movable eye mechanism, sorry. Probably it requires more time to get familiar with it.

Both heads have separately molded teeth. They are intrinsically pigmented and really white. In this reard, Sino's S4 head is a clear improvement, compared to older Z-Onedoll heads and basically all TPE heads.

Also, please take a look at the eye brows. Doll Sweet's skills in brushing the eye brows are nothing but brilliant. They are so unbelievably precise and fine. To find something similar you will have to search for a while. Sino-dolls eye brows are more coarse, but still well done.

Sino's S4 head has a couple of unusual attributes, but overall there are quite some really good details. Especially in comparison to an average ex factory TPE head, and also considering that the facial makeup in these silicone heads is way more permanent than the semi-permanent TPE makeup.

I'll post more pictures later.
