Powder-Does it Matter?

I guess this is a more generalized question about powder for any brand of girl. I've been using RLSD powder from the beginning but at $25 a container it's good but rather expensive. Is there an attractive alternative that may be as good? I know not to use baby powder but do have some Gold Bond Medicated powder with corn starch.

It might be a bit contentious, but I use baby powder. Some people say not to use the talc kind as it may cause cancer. But Johnson&Johnson also makes pure cornstarch baby powder which is what I use. The one I buy comes in a purple capped bottle and is scented with lavender. I like the smell, but you can get unscented too. Just look at the bottle and make sure its the cornstarch kind.

I've been using Johnson's baby powder since I got my first doll almost three years ago with no problems. I do believe it is mostly cornstarch though.

As I submitted this, Broven posted his response. What he uses is the exact kind I use, lavender and all.

The kind I've used for months makes her really soft but, I can't attest that the others don't do the same. Grocery store day in two days-I'll see what I can find there.

There is no definitive proven link between talc and cancer. In its natural state (as mined) talcum contains asbestos, but all talcum sold has been free of asbestos since the 1970's. If you work in a talcum mine or mill you might be rightly concerned. There's also been some studies (but not all) that show a link between the long term use of talcum by women causing cancer of the uterus or ovarian cancer. If you are worried about your doll's uterus and ovaries, you may want to avoid heavy talc use. I use both the cornstarch and talc baby powder and my girl hasn't complained, nor is she worried.

BillMartin9029,
FYSA, we did have a person whose wife was having some issues UNTIL he switched what he was powdering his dolls with.
This info can be found in our Honeymoon guide for anyone who want s to check it out.

I'm using cornstarch from the grocery flour aisle. It's the cheapest way and I don't want that baby powder smell. I do like to make my dolls smell fruity though.

Cornstarch right off the grocery shelf. Can't go wrong. Just my opinion but what do I know because I like Peanut Butter, Bananas, and Mayo sandwiches as well. Pineapple slices and Mayo sandwiches are awesome, as well.
