sex dolls/robots to be working at the Bunny Ranch in NV
The owner of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch, Dennis Hof, plans to offer dolls, or robots, to his customers. Some of the working ladies don't like it.
I think such a setup could be used for a showroom as well.
I'll put this here for fun.

This is outstanding news ...however .....my concern would be...is the business then taking away employment from tax paying citizens, or will there be legislation evolved to have the owner or liscencee of said sexbot, pay the approprite rate of tax to the respective government for her solicited services....as to my knowledge their is not any legislation global that can enforce a machine or AI to contribute their tax contribution to the nation.Obin wrote:http://uproxx.com/life/bunny-ranch-sexbots/

Let us not replace tax paying hostess with hostess that do not pay tax back to the nation....but I am all for tax paying sexbot hostesses...I wonder who the sexbot hostesses will vote for....

Let's say a factory in the United States replaces 10 tax paying workers with a high-speed robotic arm. That robotic arm doesn't have to pay any income taxes (let alone the taxes that those 10 unemployed workers were paying).Anung Un Rama wrote:This is outstanding news ...however .....my concern would be...is the business then taking away employment from tax paying citizens, or will there be legislation evolved to have the owner or licensee of said sexbot, pay the appropriate rate of tax to the respective government for her solicited services....
But taxes are just the beginning of the loss. Those 10 workers would have spent a large percentage of their income buying products and services, which would have supported jobs for other workers.
What compensates for the loss of tax revenue and personal spending? Do prices come down? Not often, and not much. And what does it matter if prices come down, if you're unemployed and don't have any money to spend? Is the government going to give you money to spend? How can they, when tax revenue has dried up? Fuck.

In this case, at least, maintenance workers could gain employment. The dolls have to be groomed, cleaned, dressed and setup attractively. Such workers might not make as much as the working ladies, but $600/week pay would sound attractive to many.ZZZZ wrote:Let's say a factory in the United States replaces 10 tax paying workers with a high-speed robotic arm. 100 hookers out of work, replaced with one person who hoses down sex dolls for $600/week.Obin wrote:In this case, at least, maintenance workers could gain employment. I think it's not that simple. One would have to maintain wigs, makeup and perform repairs. I doubt that same person would be assigned to cleaning the rooms.ZZZZ wrote:100 hookers out of work, replaced with one person who hoses down sex dolls for $600/week.Obin wrote:In this case, at least, maintenance workers could gain employment. If the volume of business increases because of lowered cost, the place might get much busier than it currently is.
What if this business model catches on and spreads to other states?

If we're talking about whether automation is destroying more jobs than it's creating in general, then "other states" are irrelevant - prostitution is illegal everywhere in the U.S. except Nevada. It doesn't make sense to compare places where different laws apply.Obin wrote:I think it's not that simple. One would have to maintain wigs, makeup and perform repairs. Just talking about sex dolls though, I wonder why there aren't sex doll brothels in every state already!

Consequently, one of the Bunny Ranch ladies commented at the end of the article and stated that she's not cleaning them.

Re: sex dolls/robots to be working at the Bunny Ranch in NV
We own dolls right?
We must be on somebody's "black list".
I suspect we're on the Lonely, Homely People's blacklist for starters.
Restaurants probably don't like doll ownership for obvious reasons.
Let's face it, we bought our own companions.
So, I'm not standing in line to throw stones at the "Chicken Ranch".

Who is going to maintain this robot? who is going to repair the skin tears that will inevitably happen especially when the patron does not care about said robot other then to use it for a quick wham bam thank you maam.
who is going to clean up the mess after the patron is finished?
Those are just two of different types of jobs that I can think of right off the bat.

You're speaking in the past tense. That trend can't continue forever, because robots/computers/non-humans keep getting smarter, more efficient, or both.Dystempr wrote:The reality is that robots have always replaced low skill work, and always have produced a more skilled work to be done to maintain it as well as other things around robot.
A business will hire workers to do those tasks as efficiently as possible. The "doll reset team" will spend an average of 15 man-minutes doing what a human would have done in 90 man-minutes. Obviously I'm pulling minute figures out of my ass, but you get my point.Dystempr wrote:Who is going to maintain this robot? who is going to repair the skin tears that will inevitably happen especially when the patron does not care about said robot other then to use it for a quick wham bam thank you maam.

Answer; you become a robot arm technician and you maintain and repair robot arms and you make good money doing so.ZZZZ wrote:Let's say a factory in the United States replaces 10 tax paying workers with a high-speed robotic arm.
