As with most valuable items which you aren't used to handling, the main thing to keep in mind is to be careful and plan ahead. Don't just pick her up and start walking around without having first cleared a path, opening all the doors and making ready the surface on which you plan to deposit her.
Next is to make sure you clean her thoroughly when she arrives. Dolls will likely have some factory residue on them, sometimes a mold release agent is still present.
