Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
...
Body
Under ideal circumstances, I would be thoroughly versed in the feature sets of the standard 145cm body and the EVO 167. Although I am generally aware of what these models offer, I do not have hands-on experience with either.
I will do my best to extrapolate based on product literature and user feedback on the forums when making comparisons with these models and the EVO 145.
General
The body proportions of Doll Sweet's EVO 145 is based on the standard 145cm model.
If you prefer a chest more naturally proportional to the body (the 145-), or a more exaggerated bust size (the 145+), you may be disappointed because Doll Sweet currently has no plans to offer these variants in an EVO configuration.
Skin (feel, texture, gloss)
The head and body are very different.
The EVO head is extremely firm with a matte coating which gives the face the texture of extremely fine velour.
However, The EVO body skin is very similar— if not identical— to the standard body.
Overall, the EVO's body skin has a pleasing, rubbery give formulated to simulate human flesh. It provides the most rewarding tactile feedback where there are recognizable body contours coupled with plenty of surface area, such as the abdomen and thighs.
This softer body skin has a higher oil content than the head, so it is naturally more tacky / clammy to the touch. The smaller extremities have an oily gloss to them. The fingers and toes flap and wriggle like fishing lure worms (I did not request wires in the fingers). I think veteran doll owners are accustomed to this, but first time buyers may find this initially off putting (particularly if they associate this sensation with creepy-crawlies).
The skin feels surprisingly robust for its softness, but it is still prone to damage. Out of the box, there was already some micro tearing from the rigors of shipping.
As a photographer, I was disappointed that the body skin surface did not share the same light diffusion properties as the head. This means that the head and body react to light differently.
This can be EXTREMELY problematic.
Problem #1: Color mismatch
Here is a factory photo of the head joined to the body:
As you can see, under the factory's harsh, flat lighting, the head and body don't match.
I am providing two personal examples to further illustrate the point:
Here you can see that under natural lighting, the head will appear slightly more yellow than the body. It may not be as perceivable in person, but the discrepancy is very noticeable in photographs.
Problem #2: Glare
In this example, I have stylized the image with a pink tint. This easily masks the head / body color mismatch issue, but notice the skin reflectivity. I pushed the highlights a bit more than I normally would. While the face has a nice even complexion, the arms under the same light intensity blow out to white. (NOTE: Oops. While processing this photo, I instinctually cleaned up the glare on the right hand instead of leaving it in for illustrative purposes. Imagine that the doll's right hand was dipped in oil. The fingers are greasy and glistening bright white).
Unfortunately, if you do color critical photography or are particularly sensitive to these visual differences, it could prove to be very bothersome.
Extra body details (hands, feet, clavicle, spine, knees)
The additional visual anatomical improvements have been proportionally shrunk down from the 167 and incorporated into the 145 with mixed results.
Doll Sweet replaced its controversial, overly sculpted & stylized neck muscles / clavicles with more realistically proportioned ones. In my opinion, this is the most noticeable and appreciated new detail.
The spinal bumps are very subtle and may not be visually appreciated unless you are specifically lighting the doll to accentuate them. That said, they do provide nice tactile feedback. I was brushing Harumi's hair for a shoot and while I was stroking her hair flat, my fingers brushed across a couple spinal bumps. It was an unexpectedly pleasant sensation.
My reaction to the scaled down EVO 167 hands / feet on the EVO 145 was tepid.
(It should be noted that I personally do not like the hands and feet of the EVO 167. I find they look more realistic, but not particularly attractive.)
There is significant detail loss. This is made worse by the oily glare. It undercuts any additional realism the new hand / feet sculpts were meant to introduce.
Perhaps more detrimental, the rest of the 145 remains unchanged from the standard version, so the realistic hands, feet and knees are visually at odds with the simple, stylized aesthetic that's prevalent on the rest the doll.
Like the EVO 167, the EVO 145 features blue veins on the hands and feet. The effect has been dramatically toned down and probably will go mostly unnoticed except for photography that emphasizes it. It should be noted that the initially glossy nature of the the feet and hands make it difficult to see the veins under normal lighting. Still, I prefer subtlety over something resembling a circulatory disorder.
The EVO knees contribute greatly towards realistically defining the silhouette of the leg as it bends. Unfortunately, as the leg straightens, divots begin popping up all over the knee until it resembles an unsightly, lumpy potato. On the plus side, these knobbly knees seem to provide much better padding from the sharp metal joints within, and they feel oddly pleasant (though not at all like real knees).
Fixed vagina (aesthetics)
The EVO 145's genitals are designed with the bias of aesthetics vs durability weighted towards durability. The vagina is not particularly detailed. The inner labia are shallow and recessed to resist tearing. These changes make the EVO 145 a more durable sexual partner than the EVO 167, but longstanding issues with 145cm dolls remain (short, narrow orifices).

Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
I'm sorry to see that the head and body are so poorly matched in texture, tho . . .
Depression ... is a bear. The constant exhaustion, the physical pain, that loud, nagging voice in my head that makes me not only my own worst critic, but my own worst enemy.
Keep fighting.

Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
One could argue that the DS Evo dolls are designed to enhance their photographic use, but it looks like there are some issues with that. Others have noted the color mismatch between head and body. I'm thinking of Sate's review of the 167 Evo where he actually had non-Evo heads that did not match. However, here, you have the Evo head, and it doesn't match either! I wonder if DS should rather make a hard DS body to match the head, so that the doll is really more strictly for photographic purposes and at least accomplishes that. It wouldn't feel as good but might also be more durable.
One could alternately argue that that a main advantage is the fixed vagina for realism as a sex doll, as the standard versions (particular the 145, I think) have issues with the insert design. Personally, I fall more towards this second category, and I'm not convinced about the value of the 145 Evo for this purpose, assuming the cost is significantly higher, and that you lose the options to customize the breast size to boot.
Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
Thank you for taking the time to do this review. It's a huge help as most of us have bought dolls without seeing them first hand. This is where an honest review is really worth its weight in gold and can be very helpful to others considering a purchase.
Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
Jimbo— heh heh… You make excellent observations, my friend. We’ve got all these pieces laid out before us… What do we have once we’ve put them all together? (^,^)
…
EDIT: I created this thread to provide honest feedback about a new product I care deeply about. I worked hard to put this together in a timely manner. My hope was that it would help inform people and answer some of the questions surrounding this doll.
It was discouraging to discover people using this thread as fodder to insult each other and their taste in dolls.
Please be respectful of each other's opinions.
I've deleted my analysis. In retrospect, it wasn't particularly insightful or useful. It's probably not important anymore.
...
Harumi
I would like to share some more pictures. Now that the "product" review is over, I'd like to talk about DS-EVO 145 as Harumi, the newest member of our family.
There are additional images here:

Harumi is very special to us. She is the "big sister" to Eve and Ada and a comforting presence in the house.
I'm not sure if she is interested in photography. It was a bit unfair of me to rush her in front of the camera.
As my depression fades, I will start to get my emotions back and I will be able to talk to Harumi. I will learn more about her personality, her interests, the stories she wants to tell.
And if she agrees to help me with my photography, I will share those stories with you.

Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
I'm not too hopeful about a fix for the head/body mismatch, though. It seems like the head is made from a formula that is much harder than the body, so truly matching them may be impossible. It would be good if DS could texture the body better to eliminate as much of the glare you noted as possible, though.
It's strange. I think of DS as one of the most innovative doll companies in the world, but I can't seem to find a product from them at the moment that doesn't have some serious flaw that keeps me from buying.
Make DS great again!
Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
As Rubyfan said, I too have great respect for DS and their innovation. But there certainly seem to be things they need to fix with this doll to be on the same level as the 167 EVO. Especially considering that these dolls seem to be designed more for photography and looking pretty than for sex, it's strange how they would let that mismatch happen to the head. And I don't know if it's just me, but doesn't the neck look very wide for that body? Or is the head small?
Well either way it is still a very pretty doll. I just expected a little more from an "EVO" variant.
Personally I was very hyped about getting a DS doll last year, but when the EVO series arrived I just felt that I really wanted that level of detail on my doll too, but for the model I want, which happens to be the 163. So I got a Ex-Lite instead just to get an idea of how tall their dolls are, and will wait for the 163 EVO or something similar with small tits One day!

Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
I would like to share some more observations.
...
Body (addendum)
Texture
The body is moulded with very fine wrinkles, approximating the texture of human skin.
This texture does not provide a significant tactile sensation while the silicone is tacky, however powdering could make a huge difference. I have not powdered the doll.
Gloss (updated)
I've had time to compare the EVO to 2 other silicone blends and found the EVO reacts the most like human skin under natural lighting.
In general, the firmer the silicone, the less oil in the silicone, the less glossy the skin.
The EVO skin manages to be relatively soft, yet less glossy than the firmer silicone blend I compared it to.
This is because the EVO skin texture helps to diffuse the light, reducing the harsh glare.
...So it is a marked improvement.
As to the level of gloss one can expect on an EVO 145 body fresh from the shipping box... Imagine applying just enough massage oil to your hands so they don't drag against the skin. Now allow the massaged skin about a half hour to absorb that oil. That would be the level of sheen you can expect from the EVO body. It is manageable for photography and even desirable if you like the look of a lightly glistening chest (for example).
The fingers and feet are extremely glossy. Imagine dipping your hands and feet in baby oil. The hands and feet need to be treated before shooting under direct light.
Color mismatch (updated)
There are many comments regarding the head / body colors not matching. These are legitimate concerns.
I have become aware of an EVO exclusive skin color. I did not know about it at the time of ordering nor was it prescribed as a preferable option.
It's possible that it is formulated to provide a better head / body match, but this is just speculation.
If you are ordering an EVO, ask about this color.
I am discovering that under natural lighting, I can get great head / body results during the shoot.
Here is photo from a session I'm working on. I didn't do any color processing— I simply exported it from the camera and converted it to a JPEG.
I think this is a perfectly serviceable image, even before any editing.
If you are worried about the color mismatch, This is what's possible straight from the camera.
UPDATE: I have finished working on the images from the above session:

Re: DS-EVO 145 Doll Review
The box had a listed weight of 66 lbs., however, I find it hard to believe that the entire doll weighs more than a few pounds over 40.
I am a small person, but I can easily manage the 145 EVO's weight. It is possible to carry her with one arm if necessary.

I enjoyed your quite detailed review
Harumi is indeed a sweet looking doll, with plenty of character in her face. I'll bet with altered make-up, lighting and wigs this face could produce quite a variety of moods.
A light weight doll like this would be a perfect photographic subject for me, but I'll be saving up a for quite some time yet
