Re: Sandra has a clothing suggestion and a story
That lens has got to be EXPENSIVE! The closeups he is doing suggests to me that his lens is a tele/macro with a HUGE aperture aka "fa$t len$".Look at the monster sized camera this guy has. Single lighting, black background method is one I have to try.
After checking out the 3 light set-up video, I did some cool experimenting/testing ... and was very surprised and happy with most of the results. Sure ... had a few "WTF's" in the bunch, but overall, very happy with the 3 light method ... even though it is more used for video than still shot.
I'll be posting some of the shots soon ... have to pick the "best of show" and resize (and GIMP out the "hanging kit". I'd say "photoshop out", but not having Photoshop ... well, you get the jest ... )
Cheers!

Re: Sandra has a clothing suggestion and a story
I have learned from browsing listings for lenses that many cost more than cameras. Just for fun, I'll see how expensive those can get. I've been reading about different types of glass: constant aperture, fixed focal length and variable focal length which are referenced as prime and zoom. I have seen that lenses can be very expensive. For fun, here's a listing for a lens mentioned on one of the pages I linked to. http://tristatecamera.com/product/Nikon ... lsrc=aw.ds nearly $1900.von_Shredhead wrote:These are some really cool and informative videos Dude ... I'm going to guess that Nina volunteered to be the model. I'll be checking on her thread.von_Shredhead wrote:After checking out the 3 light set-up video, I did some cool experimenting/testing ... and was very surprised and happy with most of the results. Since GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program, should we refer to PhotoShop as PIMP? GIMP is awesome.von_Shredhead wrote: ... have to pick the "best of show" and resize (and GIMP out the "hanging kit". I'd say "photoshop out", but not having Photoshop ... well, you get the jest ... )

And I like your photos, Obin, no matter what camera you're using. You're already doing well.
By the way, find any real sarongs yet?

Thank you, for the compliment.Zang wrote:By the way, find any real sarongs yet?
The same issue that hinders my activities has distracted me. However, I appreciate your reminder. I think I'll shop for sarongs very soon. I have, though, purchased more lingerie and a couple of dresses I'll happily try when I get an opportunity.

Re: Sandra has a clothing suggestion and a story
Oh yes ... I've seen some massive tele lenses going for multiple thousands of dollars. And some fast macro lenses ... SHEESH!! I could buy a new car for the same price. But then again ... you get what you pay for ... and if someone needs this quality/performance given by these types lenses ... well ...Obin wrote:I have learned from browsing listings for lenses that many cost more than cameras.
Thanks for this link Buddy! I'll be browsing and wishing soon! Oh FYI : When I first brought the page up, there was a Canon tele lens for over $12,000 listed in the search output ... WOW!!!For fun, here's a listing for a lens mentioned on one of the pages I linked to. http://tristatecamera.com/product/Nikon ... lsrc=aw.ds nearly $1900.
Yes ... yes she did! And what a great model she was!!I'm going to guess that Nina volunteered to be the model. I'll be checking on her thread.

I wholeheartedly agree! I have no mastery of the program, but what I do use it for it performs flawlessly time and time again!GIMP is awesome.

I wonder what type of photographer would be purchasing $12,000 lenses. I imagine a rich one, for sure.
The scarfs are fun. I look forward to seeing what can be done with sarongs.Xephyr wrote:She is so lovely in that scarf outfit.

I'm confident that's true. I wonder what other type of photography could pay well enough to make such a purchase profitable.von_Shredhead wrote:Sports photographers?Obin wrote:I wonder what type of photographer would be purchasing $12,000 lenses. I imagine a rich one, for sure.

Just read the "Prime and Zoom" article ... Thanks! I had forgotten about these "classifications" for fixed vs variable lenses.Obin wrote:I goofed up the link that was supposed to show Prime and zoom, so I fixed it.

As far as what other photographers would use these expensive lenses ... I bet the photographers for print mags like National Geographic have quite the collection of big and expensive lenses.

I'm working on another photo shoot. I have to go to work, so I don't even have time to post what I have, and, sadly, I don't have much. Since I'm terribly slow at showing things, I'll post one of those photos here. I'm going to run a new thread, though. I think the title will be "Sandra complains." I'll ask her about it first.
