Ankle surgery

These are the basic tools required for her surgery.

As before, knife to cut an opening

Oh, this is the spare part I obtained from the mfr
03.JPG
03.JPG (156.02 KiB) Viewed 3724 times
Scissors to cut an opening @10mm. I realized that the opening need not be big cos TPE’s elasticity is really good.
04.JPG
04.JPG (149.34 KiB) Viewed 3724 times
Cut all the way in till you reach the frame
05.JPG
05.JPG (151.07 KiB) Viewed 3724 times
Found some black substance. Not sure what it is
06.JPG

Anyway, remove as much as possible.

Fold her feet backward to expose frame
08.JPG
08.JPG (149.96 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Use pressure pliers to reshape frame slightly. Not as easy as wrist cos in this case only 2 insertions and others are harden glue.
09.JPG
09.JPG (164.96 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
So, simply use pliers to break out harden glue piece by piece
10.JPG
10.JPG (152.24 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Remove the debris
11.JPG
11.JPG (156.35 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Use screw driver to break out more to obtain a clear depth
12.JPG
12.JPG (162.37 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Clear all loose debris, ready for the next move
13.JPG
13.JPG (167.78 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Check if you obtain a safety depth of about 10mm

In this case, hand drill is preferred
15.JPG
15.JPG (172.22 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Drill into for about 60mm depth. Drill out as much harden glue as possible.
16.JPG
16.JPG (159.95 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Then bend the 2 thick hard wires, pulling it out while initially using the pressure pliers as the pivot point. Follow by raising this pivot point with screw driver’s handle & etc.
17.JPG
17.JPG (171.46 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Finally it’s done… and do remember to pour out the powdery glue
18.JPG
18.JPG (165.57 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Next, expose the broken wires at feet
19.JPG
19.JPG (138.7 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Unfold her feet to get a clear grip
20.JPG
20.JPG (157.57 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
Pull it out and cut away whatever TPE obstruct your way. Please do it slowly and carefully! You wouldn’t want to cut a hole through
21.JPG
21.JPG (142.99 KiB) Viewed 3720 times
At last, it’s out!

Massage her feet make sure it’s in proper position.

40.JPG
40.JPG (143.24 KiB) Viewed 3719 times
I’m afraid this is best I could, it’s a pity cos there’s slight dirt marks at opening that couldn't be clean
41.JPG
41.JPG (135.86 KiB) Viewed 3719 times
Wrapped it up for 24 hours for silicone to cure
42.JPG
42.JPG (160.86 KiB) Viewed 3719 times
Glue the opening with syringe after 24 hours.

You are an amazing surgeon!!! And a photographer as well I might add. Either you are using a carefully positioned GoPro to capture all these steps in great, clear detail or you've got a great nurse on backup....and I hope if so she's also properly attired for the role!

I really hope the handful of members here who have been avoiding and/or denigrating TPE dolls as "disposable" review your thread. Clearly they can be repaired, as you have demonstrated here. Just depends on working with the right manufacturer and having the right skills/patience.

Thank you again for this post...such a valuable reference for years to come.

Thanks for the compliment and I am honored. How I wish I had an attired nurse with me. But of course, if there was, I would not be that stupid to continue with this operation but to.....

Camera was set at 2 seconds delay for those shots. After posting wrist repair, I realized it could be of great help to those facing the same problem but may not be very handy. So, I tried to capture all vital scene and hope I did not missed any.

Manufacturer was very helpful answering my doubts on glue application, TPE elasticity & etc before operation been carry out. They were also kind enough to send me the parts for free.

You are an amazing surgeon, for sure. I agree, that your repair posts demonstrate that repairs are doable. Ever since the TPE dolls have been introduced here, that issue has been stated as a concern, and your work sets that concern to rest.

Thank you, for the terrific, well written instructions.
笑. It's good for you.
