How does one add a picture NOT as an attachment?
I'm sure I've dome it in the past, but can't anymore.

Doing it as described in the tutorial works fine but some picture show up without the "attachment frame" around them

I thought the editor shortcuts could be used to insert files....

This can be done by linking, but the image should be somewhere on the internet, and the host should allow linking (some sites prevent deep-links to images).

You may have your images uploaded to The Doll Album or The Doll Harem.

Next use one of these tages: Img, iborder, img600, imgthm, thumb or urlmature. Have the link (url) to the image between the tags.

Note, not the link to the page having the image, but the link to the image. In most browsers, right-click on the image, choose Copy Image Location, next paste this between the tags.

You'll get something like

This will show as:

If I put it between the IMG or img600 I get this

The little black square allows my to click and it will take me to the Doll Album, but that's not what I'm trying to do

This is the info I'm copying from my album to put there...

it's the only info I can take from the image, if I right click on the actual image itself and "copy link" (I don't see "copy image location") nothing appears when I "paste"

Don't put the page URL there, but the image URL

right-click the image and Copy Image Location (in FireFox, or ... IE is crap, doesn't do it, I don't have other browsers installed).

In case of The Doll Album, you may want to remove "normal_" as that is a resized image.

The code you're showing me, "www.dollalbum.com/dollgallery/albums/us ... 9/mer3.JPG" ... I don't /can't get that anywhere. If I right click on any of the pictures, thumbnail, full sizee, or otherwise, it doesnt give me anything to paste when i "copy" or "copy link"

So you suspect this is a symptom of my internetexplorer ? …..or ….Microsoft edge as that may be the browser I'm currently using

They both use a little "e" symbol so I'm not sure which I have....sorry

So you are fairly confident its a browser issue, rather than me being totally incompetent

...and a related follow up question... is installing a different browser a difficult task? ( considering my lack of technical skills demonstrated up to this point)

No it is not.
I use Chrome and Firefox.
After you downloaded the program, just click yes and I agree on everything and you are good to go

Star8, I started my old Windows 7 system and tested IE 11. You can get the image link with IE, at least with IE 11.

On your Gallery link

click on the image to get it in fullscreen.

On the fullscreen image right click and choose "properties".

A new window opens and in the middle is an adress (URL). It must be

Mark and copy it.

Paste it between

and you get:

I appreciate the input, unfortunately It won't help my situation

I'm running windows 10 with Microsoft edge ( I think ) and right clicking on the full screen image doesn't give me the "properties" option.
I am offered only ASK CORTANA ABOUT THIS PICTURE, SAVE PICTURE, SHARE PICTURE, SELECT ALL, or COPY.

I may be left with no other option than to try a new Browser. Perhaps I'll try the Mozilla, if it works for me I will assume this all is a result of Win 10/ Edge.

Might want to explore option to "Share Picture", that might actually provide you with the image location (URL). Just guessing, but MS is MS is MS. Just different ways to access the same information.

It's really weird that it is this difficult to get the image link when using IE/Edge.

Well I finally tried a different browser and that seems to solve the problem... at least here.

Still having some issues viewing images over at the "X" HAREM but i suppose that's a problem for a different thread
