What is the price of an OK wig?

Post by curiousswede »

So, I found this website and this particular wig: https://www.annabelleswigs.co.uk/full-w ... xJociC-mUk which matches pretty match my soon arriving WM168E Ujana "Jenny" wig. It costs around 27£+VAT and shipping of course to Sweden.

Now, is this an acceptable price tag for a synthetic wig with this length? (19.5 inches / 50 cm) I would have preferred 60cm what you gonna do when the price is right! :D This one also looks pretty sweet: https://www.annabelleswigs.co.uk/full-w ... xJoSyC-mUk I love long hair (longer hair = more feminine to a certain point, imho). Here's a redhead version if I would ever go redheaded: https://www.annabelleswigs.co.uk/full-w ... xJwtCC-lKJ

Btw, "The hair itself is sewn onto an adjustable, lightweight netting cap." it says about for attaching the hair to the head. What kind of attachment is recommended? I have seen different kinds of attachment styles for wigs and of course I have no clue what is right as to avoid possible stains on the head where it is attached.

Thx for help in advance once again! / CS.

Hi there, I'm in the UK and have been getting some reasonable synthetic wigs from an eBay seller called uptrending. They have a good range of styles and colours and I have found them pretty good for the price which ranges from just £10 for a very short bob style to £15 for longer lengths. They also have a few human hair wigs, which of course, will always look and feel better and I think they come in at about £60+. Its important to get a flesh coloured wig cap to prevent staining as many wigs come with a dark, even black, wig net which the hair is attached to and it will stain. I get the nylon flesh coloured wig caps which are about £1.50 each. If you like red hair then I would certainly recommend Uptrendings copper red wigs. I have them in 3 lengths and if you check my Monique's recent pics you will see she is wearing the medium length one. It's good to use as it fits really well and also has a lighter coloured net which doesn't stain, plus the medium length one doesn't seem to tangle that much. It's worth remembering that most synthetic wigs with longer lengths will inevitably tangle and can be a pain to keep sorted. They do look good but if you really want a long length then it may pay to get a human hair wig. Hope that helps.

Sorry you also asked about attaching the wig, well they have 2 adjustable straps at the back with little hooks that attach to a ribbon that is sewn into the back of the wig. You clip the hooks into the ribbon depending on the size of the head, not too tight as it will mark but tight enough so it doesn't slip off. You attach the wig starting from the back and pulling it over the scalp then adjust the 2 elastic straps on either side so that they are positioned just above the ear and then angled down to the nape of the neck.

Alright, thanks! ^_^

I have seen a video where it is shown how to attach a wig on a sex doll. So, what is this kind of attachment called? I find wigs with different kinds of attachments depending on purpose. It would be very helpful when choosing between wigs online so I know that I will get home a wig that will have the right kind of attachment that will not stain on doll. In other words, what kind of wigs should I be filtering for here: http://www.trelogganwigs.co.uk/faq/types-of-wigs/ so I know when I order that I get a wig that will be more or less stainfree when putting it on on my doll?

EDIT: (taken from website):
"There are different methods of attachment

1 All wigs have adjustable elastics to tighten and loosen the circumference of the wig.

2 Snap lock combs (a small amount of hair is required for this attachment.) Once sewn into the wig lining in the appropriate place the lock gently into your hair for a secure attachment.

3 Double sided toupee tape positioned in areas where there is no hair on your scalp, sticking both to your scalp and the wig lining.

4 Wig liners: soft netting covering the scalp giving the wig a base to adhere to.

5 Supplex, Anti slippery and Dermalite wigs have a suction hold; wearers need no hair for this base for it to gain maximum suction hold."

http://www.uptrending.co.uk (whcih is the one I assume you mean?) has unfortunately been shutdown (maybe business closed?).

You mean synthetic wigs? Saying "eBay" doesn't help me :D I need, just like people here need it for dolls, approved vendors/sellers of good quality synthetic wigs or maybe 1 real human hair wig. Wigs falling out must have to do with its attachment, not the hair itself??

Wigs are important for the overall look of our women

Like many I used to go straight for the long wigs as it is highly feminine and gloriously beautiful but over time I have realised it's not all it's cut out to be as it it's difficult to care for and keep in great looking condition for several reasons we all know eventually.

Then there is the durability aspect and the degree of softness of the hair.

When shopping for hair look for the description of the product and see if there are claims of like human hair softness for inexpensive synthetic wigs.

I have recently acquired a couple shoulder length wigs on both eBay and Amazon.
EBay is trustworthy and we all know Amazon too.
I'm not posting exactly where I got my wigs... so don't ask , your on your own it's a supply and demand market good luck out there.

Olinka with ultra soft 16inch/40cm wig brown $25 on Amazon usa
Ideal length for laying her head on pillows without getting too tangled up and my favorite length for appearances and covers up the neckline where head meets neck very nicely

Statement : i'm not wig specialist :P

That said, i've bought a pair of "cheap" wigs on ebay (will provide link in pm if interested) and was never deceived.

I think expensive wigs with natural hairs are better if you have your doll always out and is you brush/play a lot (only my humble opinion, my doll is not out 24/7 and the wigs provided by manufacturer do the job very well).

Sure the cheap wigs loose some fiber but only if they tangle too much and if you're not soft with brushing (i recommend the brush tangle teezer).

There is a tuto on TDF explaining how to brush softly and not get problems with wigs (but i din't remember the link).

I followed it with my low cost wigs and got no probs :)

Hope you guys don't mind I post couple more pics of Olinka's new wig here
I used to brush my former wife's hair after the shower or just for fun as she was reading or we watching a movie , yeah being gentle and having patience is key for any hair inexpensive or not.

I would say $15-$22 for the eBay ones. The extra stylized ones are $25-$35.

The ones I really like are the ones that have 3-digit numbers listed.
For example:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Real-Thick-Omb ... Ir5Rtk-u6w
(#510)
They have multi-tone, but more importantly they are super soft to the touch. They feel better than real hair! I still have to give my ex-RG massages so I know I'm not just imaging.
Many wigs, especially if they are under $10, have a plastic feel and will shed.
The wigs that ship with WM dolls are like $12 quality. They are not the worst, but they are below average. They definitely feel synthetic although I wouldn't complain if I never felt the 3-digit series.
